Ranbir Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt and Vaani Kapoor starrer Shamshera gave a disappointing performance at the box office. The film, which was made on a reported budget of Rs 150 crore, has managed to collect Rs 36 crore so far. In many places, Shamshera’s shows were canceled due to less people. The film is now being termed as a big flop. And director Karan Malhotra admitted the failure by apologizing for abandoning the film. In a heartbreaking note, Karan wrote, “My dear Shamshera, you are magnificent the way you are. It’s important for me to express myself on this platform because this is where all the love, hate, celebration and humiliation is for you. I want to apologize unimaginably for abandoning you these past few days because I couldn’t handle the hate and rage. My withdrawal was my weakness and there are no excuses for that. He continued: “We will face everything together, the good, the bad and the ugly. And a huge shout out to the Shamshera family, the cast and crew of Shamshera. The failure of Shamshera came as a huge shock to the film industry as trade pundits expected the Ranbir Kapoor starrer to earn over Rs 50 crore in the opening weekend. But it managed to collect Rs 31.75 crores and witnessed a huge drop on weekdays.
