He was of the opinion that the South African media did not care about his views or vision, but simply sought to portray him as his past. The final nail in the coffin was the interview between McKenzie and Dr Sizwe Mpofu-Walsh on SABC political program Unfilteredwhich received backlash and unfavorable reviews.

GOOD JOURNALISTS REACH OUT TO THE PRESIDENT OF THE BKP

In an update on the Patriots, McKenzie shared his reasons for giving reporters a chance to interview him again.

“In the days since I decided to no longer give personal media interviews, I have been inundated with messages from good journalists telling me that they understand my position but are really saddened by it,” he said.

“I realized it’s wrong to dismiss all ‘media’ as if it were one thing.”

PA LEADER INTERVIEW RULES AND CONDITIONS

McKenzie said that as a result he was persuaded to return to giving interviews, but it came with conditions.

“…the recent blitz of just saying yes to everyone and their dog will be moderated by the reflection that one should try to talk to people who want to listen. I’m not here to be liked. I’m here to fix the country,” he explained.

McKenzie self-corrects after blocking all media.

“I was wrong. There are many good, honest journalists and no one can be made to pay for the sins of another. People outside PA circles also need to hear the PA’s message of hope,” he reasoned.
