Since announcing the expansion of its search for a new superintendent, the Kenston Schools Board of Education met in an executive session June 21 to conduct the first round of interviews with candidates and identified Edward Klein as a superintendent finalist for the position.

Before last Tuesday’s interviews, Betty Jo Malchesky and Paul Milcetich withdrew their names from consideration for personal reasons, according to a June 22 letter to the community.

“As the superintendent search moves forward, community members and staff are invited to meet the superintendent finalist, Dr. Edward Klein, on Tuesday, June 28, at 5:30 pm with members of the administrative team meeting at 6:45 pm at Timmons Elementary School, ”the district said.

“At this time, Dr. Edward Klein will share his background in a combined one-hour session. He will answer the pre-submitted community and staff questions that were asked at the June 6 Meet the Superintendent Candidates event. At the end of the interview, those in attendance will be asked to complete a brief feedback form that will be considered as part of the school board’s interview process, ”the district said.

The superintendent search has been underway since April 21, when the board hired the Ohio School Board Association to find a replacement for Nancy R. Santilli.

Santilli announced her resignation effective July 31 to accept a position at the Educational Service Center of the Western Reserve.

The district went on to say, “We value your feedback and hope you will attend the Meet the Superintendent Candidate finalist session on Tuesday, June 28, 2022.”
