Karan Johar speaks happily and positively Sunny Deol lead Bridge 2‘a huge success and he expresses his happiness especially for all the single screen theaters who were facing huge losses due to mainstream movies not being made with the passage of time in Bollywood. In his latest interaction, Karan Johar was asked about Sunny Deol’s huge success Bridge 2and the director heaped praise on the film and said, ” The bridge blew everyone’s brains because it was a movie that was hugely successful in 2001 and now in 2023 it’s breaking all the records. I’m so glad for the single screens.”
Karan Johar even defended Bollywood in the debate about the southern industry ruling the Hindi box office for quite some time, but after this year things changed and it started with Pathanand the rest is history.
Talking about the South Hindi box office, Karan said, “I never thought there was a problem with what Bollywood was doing. We’ve had bad years in the past and we’ve had one or two more bad years. it means ‘Boycott Bollywood’, ‘They’re Dead’ or ‘South Takes Over’. The south is great. What they do is amazing.”

Karan Johar talks about how he was the first to promote the South in Bollywood, citing Baahubali and Baahubali 2.
Speaking to the Indian Express in the same interview, he said, “I was the first to go with all my reverence to the heart of Rajamouli sir and wanted to present Baahubali. I’m obsessed with them. Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam – the four types of cinema – have catered to different types of audiences and done so with super conviction. So I have a lot of respect for them. But I also have great respect for the storytellers we have in our Hindi cinema.”
Bridge 2 cash collection
Speaking of Sunny Deol’s Bridge 2, it created havoc at the box office and earned around 385 crores so far, with speculation that the film may cross 450 crores in its third week of release. Sunny Deol is a success and no one thought that the film will triumph in such a huge way. Earlier, Bollywood praised Salman Khan, Kangana Ranautand many other stars including Sunny Deol to keep Hindi box office glory.
