Less than a a week after Kanye West praised Adolf Hitler in an interview with conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, West — flanked by white supremacist Nick Fuentes — sat down with Proud Boys founder Gavin McInnes to demand that Jews “forgive Hitler.”

The 45-minute episode, titled “Saving Ye” on alt-right video platform Censored.TV, opens with McInnes at an airport voicing his desire to “stop Ye West from becoming an anti-Semitic or a Nazi” and to “talk him off the ledge.” In the same breath, McInnes expresses his hopes to show West that “our problem is liberal elites of all races,” then goes on to name two black leaders, Kamala Harris and Barack Obama, as “the main problem.”

McInnes, the co-founder of Deputy who left the media company in 2008, was banned from Twitter, Facebook and Instagram in 2018 for promoting content related to violent extremist groups and hate speech. In 2020, his YouTube account was suspended for violating the platform’s hate speech rules. His timely interview with the rapper coincides with a firestorm of media attention stemming from a Yeezy fashion show in October in which West displayed “White Lives Matter” shirts. While McInnes’ Censored.TV Twitter account has just under 16,000 followers, West had millions by comparison – before he was banned – and currently has over 18 million followers on Instagram.

Before meeting West and Fuentes, McInnes says he will meet them at a safe location in Los Angeles. The camera cuts to the 45-minute interview with West and Fuentes, which McInnes points out takes place just two days after the InfoWars debacle. West, whose face is covered by a mask, begins by boasting that the backlash from his previous interview was “great for a presidential campaign,” before blaming Jews for Hitler’s “reputation” and comparing abortion to “eugenics.” “genocide”, and “Holocaust”. West also repeats his claims that “Jews control most of the media, along with the banks, along with real estate, along with the malls.” He adds: “They can control the narrative. History is written by the winners.”

Later in the interview, McInnes repeats an earlier claim that “ethnomasochism” is a “genetically white thing,” which Fuentes counters by saying that “liberalism has poisoned the well for white people.” Fuentes used the moment to delve into a topic about his childhood, claiming that “kids love Hitler” and that there’s something compelling about the videos, propaganda and symbols. When McInnes questioned Fuentes’ claim, the Holocaust denier clarified that he was referring to children on 4chan.

Fuentes has been designated a “white supremacist” by the Department of Justice and founded the American First Political Action Conference (AFPAC) in 2020—a far-right competitor to the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC)—and has ties to the extreme right Representatives Marjorie Taylor Green and Paul Gosar.

Earlier in the episode, West claims “there’s collusion between Jewish lawyers and managers and everything else you can think of” that “gives America porn.” West goes on to say that porn is the “gas chamber, it’s a silent killer” to “dumb us down.” He also cited his ex-wife Kim Kardashian, who he claims was used to “sell” him. West – who claims he used porn to harass and control his staff – returned to this point later, saying that porn had “destroyed” his family and that women in porn were “products of pedophilia”. In a move that ditches female empowerment in favor of body shaming, West adds that women on Instagram who are “showing off their bodies” in their 30s and 40s are freezing their eggs because they haven’t “realized the dream to have a husband and children. ”

West then called on people to “pray for Instagram” and condemned anyone who liked a photo of a “semi-nude woman” as a “sexual predator.”

Perhaps sensing an opportunity to give his male ego a much-needed boost, McInnes goes on to refer to “girls who don’t pay attention to the weather” as “the new journalists” who want to “undo” and “sabotage family men.”

At one point, McInnes asks West a hypothetical question. “So you’re the president of the United States,” McInnes says. “It’s day one and somebody comes in and says, ‘So what are we going to do with these Jews?’ what do you say?” West replies, eliciting giggles from Fuentes and McInnes: “Jews have to work for Christians. I’ll hire a Jew in a second if I knew he wasn’t a spy and I could look through their phone and track their house and have a camera in their living room.

When asked if he had chosen a running mate, West says he considered Candice Owens (who wore a matching “White Lives Matter” T-shirt to the show), but that he had a problem with Ben Shapiro “controlling Candice Owens’ voice.” Owens is a talk show host on Daily Wirewhich Shapiro co-founded.

The Proud Boys founder asks a series of final questions. While West responds that he would make abortion illegal, he stops short of giving his “policies on immigration” and “building a wall” and replies that “there’s no immediate clear answer to that.” Asked about gay marriage, West says all his policies will “follow the Bible.” This leads McInnes and Fuentes to go off on a judgmental tangent, associating gay and transgender people with “mental illness.”

Although he spends most of the interview lambasting the Jewish community and women who don’t give birth before the age of 30, West ends the interview by professing his love for “everyone.” Alluding to his yet-to-be-filed campaign, West said “the rules of the country will be based on the bible” and that “we will bring the constitution into line with the bible”.

Trend

“Jews can’t tell me who I can love and who I can’t,” he continues. “You can’t say, you can’t force your pain on everyone else. Jews, forgive Hitler today.

West’s comments go back to recent A rolling stone piece by George Chidi, who writes that “at some base level, white racists like to hear a black voice articulate ideas they themselves can’t say publicly without backlash.” As Chidi notes, men like McInnes and Fuentes get to “wear blackface with Ye” as their “based proxy.”
