Kannada superstar Yash achieved success across India with the hit franchise KGF. Both KGF Chapter One and KGF Chapter Two broke several records at the box office and his larger-than-life role as Rocky Bhai was loved by all. Recently, Rishab Shetty’s Kantara also proved its mettle. As Bollywood continues to face boycott calls, Yash urged the people of Karnataka not to abandon any other film industry once they have tasted success.
In his recent interaction with Film Companion, he didn’t shy away from acknowledging the fact that his KGF franchise put Canada’s film industry on the map. He wants every director and actor from his industry to become stars of all India and wants people not to respect anyone.
“I don’t want the people of Karnataka to abandon another industry because we faced this problem when everyone treated us like this. We have worked hard to earn this respect. Then we can’t start mistreating anyone. We must respect everyone. Respect Bollywood. Forget this north and south,” Yash said.
He added that it is not good to corner anyone and that one cannot demean Bollywood by saying, “They are nothing.” He said it was just a phase and they taught them so many things. He further said that instead of fighting each other, we as a country should make good films, develop infrastructure and build theaters and compete with the rest of the world and say ‘India has arrived’.
After the KGF franchise, Yash is currently not working on any upcoming project. He said that he only wants to work on larger-than-life projects going forward, as slice-of-life films have never interested him.
