BUCK: Joe Manchin. Joe Manchin. He dances a lot on TV and says, “No, this won’t raise taxes! Oh, it’s going to do all these great things. It’s just a big, evil corporation…” Well, wait a minute. Aren’t the big manufacturers corporations? I’m pretty sure the big manufacturers are corporations, and I’m also pretty sure the manufacturers employ a lot of people. We want more production on land. This is the key to America’s economic prosperity in the future. So when the National Association of Manufacturers analysis shows it will cost — Biden’s bill — a lot of jobs. This will cost GDP growth.
What does Joe Manchin say about this?
BUCK: Oh, yes, it will be great, because the senators—the left-wing fools who are pushing for this—know a lot about how to build things faster and how to streamline the processes of manufacturing and trade and economic growth. They don’t know anything about it. Oh, but suddenly they have a bill that will do what we hadn’t heard of until five minutes ago? This is insane politics.
These are the Democrats throwing cash at what they want and raising taxes to stick it on those they don’t like right before the midterms so they can say, “See? We wield power in the name of the left. Haha. Green New Deal gets $300 billion for energy. Do you think that money goes to coal, oil, natural gas and nuclear? How about nuclear? “Nucular”, remember, we had it all along and people gave Bush a hard time about it.
First, a lot of people say “nuclear” and second, decisive… I think that’s a word. If it’s not a word – I’m the one to decide – it should be a word. It’s a great word, you know, it makes a lot of sense. This is something we need to add to our lexicon. So back to Manchin here, this is where we start saying things to each other, anyone listening to this is going to, this doesn’t even make sense. And that was on I think CNBC, right? Was it CNBC? Yes
And good job – because look. CNBC is all about business. The Manufacturers Association says it hates this bill. Joe Manchin sits there and says, “But, no, it’s going to make it better for manufacturers.” That’s the classic Democrat. They are telling you that they know what is best for you in your area of expertise that they know nothing about. A classic Democrat maneuver, you know. Nancy Pelosi, can’t you just see her?
(impression) “The chips produced by this… We get the chips. They will be much better. They will taste better. They will be more crispy and without much salt. She doesn’t understand anything about chips. However, she knows how to rake in cash, and she knows how to push information about money being thrown away to people who do very well with that information. I do not say. However, here’s the follow-up to Joe Manchin again dodging when asked, but hey man, the manufacturers association says it’s really bad for them.
Here’s what Manchin says.
BUCK: So now it’s just reduced to, “They’re lying. Everyone else is wrong and lying about what this will do to taxes. Everyone else is lying and wrong about what this will do to manufacturing and jobs.” Apparently Joe Manchin, who barely managed to get enough West Virginians to vote for him last time. And look. We all make mistakes. I voted for Romney in 2012, so I’m not throwing stones. But then again, what was the alternative?
But he barely managed to hang on with I think three percent in the last election. And here he is telling everyone you don’t know that you are just a stupid head. I know. I’m better at math, forecasting and the economic impact of this, please? It’s the Democrats. s Chuck Schumer sat down with him and probably said, “We all know you’re not going to win the election. We all know you’re toast next time. Do you want the device…?”
(interruption) Well, what are you looking at me for? What I did? (interruption) A. The team here is looking at me. Did I do something Did I let a word fly like a scream? I’m so fired up here. I get crazy looks in New York that have nothing to do with me. You guys just blew me away. Yes, look. I think Manchin had a seat. What’s one thing I always tell you? And it is so important.
The Democrats have a whole… You notice that the word “apparatus” is now in much wider use. I do not know. I won’t say, but it’s kind of my job. The Democrat apparatus is so effective at making propositions to the people, sort of like Xerxes to the man who betrays the Persians, just throw all the money and all the power at them or whatever. They are much better at closing a deal for a reservation.
I don’t know if you got the reference to “300” which is just a great, timeless movie. But they’re much better at throwing money and book details and speaking fees and corporate board seats and all that. If you want to take the Schumer route and get invited to fancy cocktail parties, and you want to be someone who gets paid a quarter of a million dollars a year CNN contributors to appear once a month, or you want to be a principled person who does the most good for his country and keeps his promises, like a loser. I think we all know the answer from Joe Manchin. I think we all know what we’re seeing here.

BUCK: Welcome back to Clay and Buck. This is Buck. And that was Joe Manchin, and that was just amazing. (laughs) He goes, “What…? What don’t you see here?” I’m sure some of you have seen the timeless Nineties Cinema Office Space. Do you remember when one of the characters – I can’t actually remember his name – but he has to meet the two Bobs, who were the consultants who were there to make cuts and he just at some point they were like, “So what are you going to do here?”
It’s one of monvie’s greatest lines and he starts… He realizes this isn’t going well, looks at the two Bobs and says, “I’m good with people! I’m a people person. What the hell is wrong with you guys?” (laughs) Joe Manchin is actually at this point. “I am a legislator! I’m good with people! what’s wrong with you It’s gonna save America!” No, man, it really isn’t.
But everyone kind of sees it for what it is. Craven capitulation Manchin. Here’s what happens. Put it on a bumper sticker. This will actually work quite well. “I’m a people person! I’m good with people!” I love him too. They say, “So you’re basically taking the sketches from the engineers to sales. Why can’t the engineers just do this themselves?” “Because I’m a people person!” Joe Manchin is a people person. If you haven’t seen Office Space, by the way, I highly, highly recommend it.
And I’m thrilled to see how many people write in who agree with me that Peaky Blinders is just so good, it’s just so good. I can’t be wrong in advising… (interruption) Oh, here we go. Bob Slidell says, “What would you say you’re doing here?” Tom Smikowski. That’s his name. “See, I already told you! I work with the damn clients. So engineers don’t have to. I have people skills!”
Joe Manchin should definitely watch Office Space. Oh man, that’s a great scene in a great movie. When they finally take the baseball bats and smash the printer to smithereens on the field? “Why does it say ‘paper jam’ when there is no paper jam!” For those who have had an office job, especially in the late 90’s, early 2000’s, you know this really happened, man.
We’ve all wanted to take a baseball bat to a printer or copier or a combination at some point. So this is especially good. Anyway, Joe Manchin, you’ll be hearing more and more. This is one of my favorite Manchin videos in a long time? “Why are you asking me about Joe Biden? Why are you asking me all these damn questions? What I’ve done is amazing!” I don’t think so, my friend. I think people are starting to see it for what it is.
