The Far North Fashion Show drew a crowd to the Anchorage Museum atrium on Thursday night. The fashion show, in its fourth year, featured the work of Indigenous designers and Indigenous models for looks ranging from traditional to modern to experimental.

The Anchorage Museum partnered with the Arctic Encounter Symposium, going on this week at the Dena’ina Center, for the event.

Designers Corrine Danner, Alannah Jones, Diana Martin, Clara Qaulluq McConnell, Jackie Qataliña Schaeffer and Merna Lomack Wharton exhibited their creations.

“This year, it’s a little bit bigger of a crowd, but it’s always exciting,” said McConnell, who said she combines contemporary designs with traditional Inupiaq elements using materials such as fox, suede, beadwork and fish leather.

Tanam Anĝii Collective, an Anchorage-based dance group with Unangax̂ roots, danced at the conclusion of the runway show.
