“Stop scrolling because here are some tips and inspiration on how you could dress better with clothes you already own,” Eriksson said in a video uploaded to her 212k TikTok followers.

“I’m going to show you loads of examples with plain and basic pieces that you hopefully already have in your closet to help you visualize how you could apply this to your own outfits.”

LAYERING

The fashion enthusiast began with the concept of layering.

“So this is a tip that you’re probably tired of hearing because everyone is talking about it, but it really is the best way to spice up any outfit, and I’m going to show you why.”

Eriksson explained her first layering tip by using an example of a woman wearing a pair of blue denim jeans.

She had on a black cropped top with a long white button down over it, with a dark grey jacket thrown over.

Eriksson touched on another example of layering that she said might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but felt that it was “very stylish.”

To replicate the look, get a long-sleeved button-down top and put a black cropped cami over it.

Pair it with some jeans and high heel booties and you’re set.

The stylist also highlighted more subtle ways of layering in which you let something peak out on the top, or on the bottom of your outfit.

For instance, wearing a button-down shirt with one of the sleeves hanging off the shoulder to reveal a hint of a lacy bralette.

Or, wearing a lace dress underneath an oversized crewneck sweater so the lace can peek through.

“And here’s another example of how to layer a basic outfit. You basically just tie a sweater or a knitted cardigan on top,” Eriksson said.

She also cited her favorite way to layer like a pro. She said: “It’s three really basic pieces, but when paired together it looks super stylish.”

To create the look, put a button-down shirt over a dress, and throw a knitted vest over the button down.

ACCESORIZING

With a simple hat or bag, Eriksson feels like you can elevate any look and give your clothing new life.

She used an example of a woman wearing an oversized plain white button-down shirt.

The woman added hints of color to complete the look by accessorizing with a bright pink shoulder bag and top hat.

“Just think about how plain and boring this would look if we would remove the hat and the bag,” Eriksson said.

Showing another great example of how accessorizing could switch up your look, she said: “Here’s also a super good example of how you could spice up just a regular basic jogger outfit with some jewelry.”

Adding elegant jewelry to your athleisure look will take it to the next level.

MIX AND MATCH DIFFERENT TEXTURES

Mixing and matching different textures is another tried-and-true method for making the best of your wardrobe, according to Eriksson.

She showed an example of a woman wearing an outfit that contains different textures and told viewers they should try to emulate it.

“For this outfit, we have a silky shirt, we have a leather bag, we have a knitted skirt, and we have mesh socks. So start mixing and matching different textures and clothes that you didn’t think about before.”
