Mrunal Thakur is one of the few actors who have successfully made a smooth transition from the small screen to the big screen. With Sita Ramam, Mrunal won appreciation not only from the southern film industry but also from his fans in other parts of the country. The critically acclaimed romantic period drama was declared a big hit in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam and later got a good start in Hindi as well. Overwhelmed by the audience’s response, Mrunal said it had never been performed on such a larger scale. When asked about getting similar opportunities in Bollywood. she told Hindustan Times, “I didn’t have that opportunity, I’ll be very honest. I was really trying to convince the directors that I had the potential to do better, but I just didn’t have the ability. I was very happy with whatever I had but now it’s like I have to ask for it “sir please koi achhi film hai toh de do na”. However, Mrunal said there are several Bollywood directors who have instilled faith in her acting prowess. “They try to work hard on me and I also want to work hard on the characters. It took too many years down the road just to convince them, ‘yes, I deserve this,'” she added.

A few days ago, Kangana Ranaut heaped praise on Mrunal for her performance in Sita Ramam and handed over her queen title to the actress. “All the actors did incredibly well, but what stood out the most for me was Mrunal Thakur’s performance. Restrained emotions and a rare dignity in her behavior. No other actress could have portrayed him. What great casting. A queen indeed. Zindabad Thakur Saab, here begins your reign,” Kangana wrote on Instagram.

On the work front, Mrunal will next be seen essaying the lead character in her upcoming film Pooja Meri Jaan. It also stars Huma Qureshi, Vikram Singh Chauhan and Vijay Raaz.
