H&M expands international portfolio with new store launches

H&M has expanded its international portfolio with the launch of two new markets and an e-commerce site for its Uruguayan customers.

The Swedish retailer opened its first store in the North Macedonia’s capital Skopje. The 2,300 square metre space in the city’s East Gate Mall offers a wide range of fashion for women, men, youth and kids.

H&M has also opened a store in Costa Rica, which marks the company’s 78th market.

The opening, on 20 August reportedly saw over 1,000 people waiting in line to enter the new store. Pre-opening activities included a traditional dance sequence and a ribbon cutting ceremony by the brand’s Global Franchise Director, Nairn Paterson.

Additionally, H&M also launched its first online store in Uruguay, the fourth country to have its e-commerce in South America and the 57th worldwide.

The retailer currently operates three stores in the Uruguay, with its first opened back in 2018.

H&M also announced a new seasonal lookbook destination on its e-commerce site. H&M Man customers can access the site for outfit inspiration throughout the entire year, for three categories: smart, casual and street.

Ross Lydon, Head of Menswear Design at H&M said: “Trends show you the possibilities. Style is about being yourself. Ideally, we can encourage customers to have fun and try new ways of expressing their personal style.”
