Randeep Hooda leaves no stone unturned to look the part he plays
New Delhi: Randeep Hooda is a chameleon. He changes his appearance faster than the seasons. Giving 100 per cent for his roles, Hooda is known to physically transform for the character he plays, even if it is a dramatic one like “Sarabjit”.
On his birthday today, let’s take a look at how the actor par excellence leaves no stone unturned to look at the part he plays. In 2016, Hooda weighed 94 kgs for a role he played in “Do lafzon ki kahaani” and thereafter dramatically lost 28 kgs within a month for “Sarabjit”.

Randeep as Sarbjit looked exceptionally skinny and sported messy hair and a beard for the character of an Indian national who is jailed in Pakistan (and later died) after inadvertently crossing the border. “Almost took the life outta me,” Hooda had said.
The actor said, “I lost a total of 30 kg, the more I lost, the more I stopped eating, the better I looked. So, I started looking like Brad Pitt of Fight Club.” Apart from physical transformation, it was also an emotional journey for him. He said, “It gave me a lot emotionally, taught me a lot about how she must have felt deprived of things. I went crazy. Solitude can kill you.
For the role, Hooda went on a strictly monitored starvation diet where he only drank water and black coffee. For the flashback sequences, he had to put on 20 kgs which wasn’t a blast either.

Beefed up body
And immediately after “Sarabjit”, Hooda had to gain weight for “Sultan” which was again dramatic, as he played the role of a wrestling coach.
“In Sultan, since I play Salman Khan’s coach, the role requires me to look beefed up. Now to adjust to my schedule, the makers of Sarabjit shot the portions where I had to look healthy. As a result of this, my diet also went through a stark change,” he said in an interview.
For the coach’s role, Hooda began with weightlifting and endurance exercises to build muscles and gain mass. He also changed his diet, which included foods that allowed healthy weight gain and muscle mass. He was on a protein and carbohydrate-heavy diet for six months.
