Deepika Padukone will miss Project K’s launch at the San Diego Comic Con

If reports are anything to go by, Deepika Padukone will not be joining Prabhas and Rana Daggubati who are already in the US. The San Diego Comic Con begins on July 20 (July 21, IST). Deepika will not be joining the Project K team as she is a member SAG-AFTRA (Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists). The Hollywood celebrities have been on strike for days and due to the protest going on, Deepika will not be attending the Comic Con and the launch, a news agency insider also stated, reports an entertainment news portal. Well, the SAG-AFTRA union mentions that the actors are not to provide any advertising or promotional services due to the strike. And that obviously applies to San Diego Comic Con as well. Deepika Padukone is a member of SAG-AFTRA and therefore as per the regulations provided, the actress will not be attending Comic-Con. Well, it’s really a mixed feeling. What is the SAG-AFTRA strike about?

Since last few days, the strike has been trending and making headlines. Even Priyanka Chopra has extended her support for SAG-AFTRA. Filming and promotions of Heads of State starring Chopra have been halted due to the strike. SAG-AFTRA members are on strike against studios and online streaming services. Actors and members are on strike as they want better working conditions and pay. They have stated that it is like a job because of the surge of streaming platforms.
