On March 10, 2023, the sixth movie in the Scream franchise premiered in theaters. Each of the installments are a perfect blend of
horror and tongue-in-cheek meta humor, films that aren’t afraid to not take themselves too seriously.
Scream is unlike other beloved slasher franchises — such as Halloween (Michael Myers), Friday the 13th (Jason Voorhees), and A Nightmare on Elm Street (Freddy Krueger) — because each villain who dons the Ghostface mask is different than the person who last wore it. Meaning, we get new baddies with every movie. This is also part of the franchise’s charm: It’s a whodunit that leaves us guessing who the murderer (or murderers) is until the big reveal.
