The Ghana Medical Association, the Registered Nurses and Midwives Association of Ghana, the TUC Health Service Workers Union and the Government and Hospital Pharmacists Association have threatened to withdraw their services from July 28, 2022 over the Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) .

The four associations, in a statement copied to the Ghana News Agency, said the decision followed their inability to get a “favorable” response from the government to the COLA demand by Organized Labour, of which they were part.

“We had hoped that the meeting convened by the government with organized labor on July 12, 2022 would have resolved the issue, but the meeting failed to achieve its objective.

“Therefore, we are putting the Government on notice as an employer that if by 22 July 2022 the COLA negotiations are not concluded, the aforementioned health sector unions will have no choice but to take a series of actions as outlined below which will no doubt disrupted industrial harmony in the health sector,” the statement said.

Actions include wearing of red arm/wrist bands in all health facilities from 25 to 27 July 2022, suspension of Out-Patient Department (OPD) services from 28 to 31 July 2022 and suspension of OPD and hospital services at August 1, 2022
