Panchayat Season 2 – Original Video
After a successful first season, Prime Video delighted viewers with Panchayat Season 2 earlier this year. Starring Jitendra Kumar, Neena Gupta, Raghubir Yadav, Faisal Malik and Chandan Roy, the serial exceeded expectations with its strong plot, screenplay, direction, dialogues and powerful performances by the actors. In the second season, Abhishek (Jitendra) takes more interest in rural politics while preparing for his CAT exams. Season 2 proved to be the perfect mix of drama, emotion and laughter and earned a strong IMDb rating of 8.9+.
Ashram Season 3 – MX Player
The much awaited third installment of Prakash Jha’s popular serial Aashram left the viewers surprised with unexpected plot and twists. Aashram follows the exploits of Baba Nirala (Bobby Deol), a godman/con who has built a political/criminal empire under the guise of a spiritual enterprise. The third season picked up from last season when one of Baba Pammi’s (Aaditi Pohankar) students escaped from his clutches after being sexually abused by him and now seeks revenge. In the background there were multiple characters and storylines about Baba’s lust for power and women and the changing political fortunes of the state where his ashram was located. With a star-studded cast including Bobby Deol, Chandan Roy Sanyal and Aditi Pohankar, Ek Badnaam…Aashram aired on 3 June 2022 and received overwhelming response from critics and viewers alike. Crime in Delhi 2 – Netflix
One of Netflix’s popular properties, Crime in Delhi starring Shefali Shah, Rajesh Tailang and Rasika Duggal returned for Season 2 this year. Season 2 revolves around a fictionalized version of a true crime that took place in 2012, where serial killers are brutally murdering elderly people in the city. But despite the rise in the death toll, police have been unable to identify the culprit. Ending this gruesome killing spree will be a challenge for Vartika’s team. While the sequel was more brutal and graphic, it managed to retain enough sensitivity and finesse, grabbing eyeballs everywhere.
Gullak Season 3 – SonyLIV
One of the most beloved slice-of-life series, Sony Liv’s Gullak managed to maintain a rare feat with Season this year and only got better. The Mishras are back to share their kiss for a middle-class family struggling to make ends meet that’s as real as anyone else’s. Starring Vaibhav Raj Gupta, Geetanjali Kulkarni, Jameel Khan and Harsh Mayar in key roles, Season 3 saw the grown up version of the Mishra brothers. As Aman’s dreams grow, Anu’s desires try to expand, but he thinks it’s better to sacrifice them for the sake of family. The family drama hit it out of the park with flawless performances backed by good writing.
Criminal Justice: Adhura Sach Season 3 – Disney+ Hotstar
The acclaimed Disney+ series Hotstar Criminal Justice is back with Season 3 this year. With Pankaj Tripathi once again donning the mantle of lawyer as Madhav Mishra, the latest season focuses on the mysterious death of Zara Ahuja (Deshna Dugad), a popular teenage celebrity. Her step brother Mukul (Aaditya Gupta), the prime suspect in this case, is arrested and Madhav Mishra is brought in to rescue him. The gripping script and top-notch acting made this eight-episode season an instant hit.
Dharavi Bank – MX Player
One of MX Player’s most anticipated flagship properties, Dharavi Bank released on November 19, 2022. Marking the digital debut of Suniel Shetty, the series has been touted as one of the best revenge dramas in recent times with a phenomenal 9+ rating on IMDb . Set in Mumbai’s Dharavi slums, the show depicts the power struggle between Dharavi’s dreaded gangster Thalaivan, who has reached the deepest roots of the slum, and Chief Minister Jhanvi Sarve and Police Commissioner Jayant Gavaskar. Saas Bahu Aur Achaar Pvt Ltd – Zee5
Starring Yamini Das, Amruta Subhash, Manu Bisht and Anjana Suhani in pivotal roles, Saas Bahu Aur Achaar Pvt Ltd is one of the best drama serials of 2022. The story revolves around a woman who struggles to set up her business with pickles and earn money to get custody of her children from her ex-husband. Her ex-mother-in-law helps her market and sell her pickles, while her children go down the wrong path, creating new challenges. It’s a simple yet relatable series with a good message. The ease with which the drama portrays the bittersweet relationship between the characters is what makes this Zee5 content stand out.
