FILIPINO celebrities Bojo Molina and Valerie Concepcion were the hosts of the “Rock the Vote” event Saturday for the Arnold-Dave 2022 team.

Held from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Sugar King Park to celebrate the CNMI’s “cultural diversity through music and dance,” the celebration was organized by CNMI Filipino community members who support the Independent gubernatorial ticket of Lt. Gov. Arnold I. Palacios and his running mate, Saipan Mayor David M. Apatang.

They are running against the Republican tandem of Gov. Ralph DLG Torres and Senate Floor Leader Vinnie F. Sablan in the runoff election on Nov. 25.

Hundreds of island residents representing different ethnicities attended the Rock the Vote event.

Bojo Molina is a former Filipino TV and movie actor in the 1990s who now lives on Guam with his family, while Valerie Concepcion is a TV host and actress in the Philippines whose husband is a Guam court marshal.

Palacios said he was very appreciative of the “kababayans” who sponsored the event.

“It was really well-attended — a lot of people came out and we were blessed with good weather and a nice afternoon breeze,” he added.

“It really was a good program and I got to meet a lot of ‘kababayans’ and other NMI residents from different ethnic backgrounds. I really appreciate their efforts,” Palacios said.

An appreciation

Kalayaan Catering’s Eleanor Alinas, the main organizer of the event, said, “As a company doing business in the CNMI for the past 22 years, Kalayaan shows its appreciation for the Northern Marianas by participating in various community events. We have partnered with several agencies in the past, such as the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs for the Week of the Young Child, Tinian’s Pika Festival, and various other church, school and organizational fundraising efforts.”

This year, Alinas said they co-sponsored Saturday’s celebration that “aimed to highlight the rich and diverse cultural groups we have on island.” Max’s Restaurant Guam provided lunch to all attendees, she added.

The co-host was Saipan’s very own Santi “Big Boy” Sablan.

Alinas thanked everyone who helped make the event a reality. “We are grateful for the chance to partner with the AD2022 Unity Coalition, and we are extremely thankful to all people who came, enthusiastically participated in the show’s program, and left gracious and kind remarks about the food that Kalayaan provided through Max’s Restaurant.”
