Fashion show raises funds for FUEL

Fundraising and fashion joined forces recently during Tiger Lily Boutique’s annual Fall Fashion Show benefiting the FUEL program.

The fashion show, a returning event for almost a decade, has been organized each year to gather funds for the FUEL program, which helps to address hunger among students in the Warren County School System. While students receive a free lunch at school, they are often left with food insecurity when school is not in session, such as during weekends and extended breaks. FUEL packages bags of food for students to take home during those times in an effort to bridge the gap until the student returns to school.

With First National Bank’s main lobby as the backdrop, the fashion show consisted of fifteen models showing off the latest in fall fashion while attendees were treated to time spent socializing and enjoying delicious food. Hors d’ouevres and elegant desserts were provided by WCHS’s culinary program students while budding entrepreneurs Abram Stinson and Ella Colvard brought their own creations for visitors to browse during the show.

“The afternoon was absolutely wonderful. It was a lot of good time together and fun seeing all the fashions for the upcoming season, all to raise money for such a good cause,” said organizer Kari Burnett of the event’s success. “We had a great turn out, and we’re all pleased that so many showed up to support the FUEL program.”

This year’s event was a resounding success and raised approximately $1800 for the FUEL program, which is enough to furnish about 90 FUEL bags for students.

“I would like to thank First National Bank for partnering with us and our talented vendors,” Burnett said. “We look forward to seeing everyone next year, and we hope to make the Fall Fashion Show even bigger and better.”
