By India Today Lifestyle Desk: The Ladakh International Music Festival (LIMF) 2023 is set to return with a unique fashion show, the Ladakh International Fashion Runway. It will be held on the world’s highest motorable road, Umling La, at an altitude of 19,022 feet. The event, scheduled to take place from August 23 to September 3, is part of the Ladakh Art and Entertainment Alliance (LAEA) initiative and aims to echo the spirit of the G20 summit.

The fashion show will feature women leaders from G20 countries and guest countries, including beauty queens (Miss Universes, Miss Worlds and Earths) from around the globe. These include Miss Earth India Vanshika Parmar, Miss Earth Italy Giulia Ragazzini, Miss Earth USA Lindsey Coffey, Miss Universe Japan Yuumi Kato, Miss Earth UK Luissa Burton, Miss Earth Germany Annabella Fleck and Miss World Bangladesh Rafah Nanjeba Torsa among others.

Tashi Gyalson, Chairman of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), expressed his pride in hosting the event in Ladakh. He emphasised the importance of associating local values with global decisions and promoting the concept of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ – a Sanskrit phrase meaning ‘the world is one family’.

In a unique twist, each model will bring half a kg of sand from their respective countries. After the event, they will mix this sand with concrete and place it into a pre-made creative mould of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’, symbolising unity and echoing the G20 spirit.

Sushil Chaudhary, co-founder of LAEA and founder of LIMF, highlighted the festival’s ongoing collaboration with the Indian Army and the LAHDC.”This year, we are excited to incorporate the new Ladakh Fashion Runway, making the event even more expansive and memorable,” he added.

Pankaj Gupta, Director and Co-founder of LAEA, revealed that the event is an official attempt to secure a new spot in the Guinness World Book of Records. “It is time for India to stand up for what it truly believes in. Miss Worlds, Universes and Earths across the globe will participate in this runway to celebrate and immortalise the Presidency of the G20 summit,” he added.

The festival promises attendees a blend of powerful performances, stunning fashion, breathtaking scenery, and a celebration of art, culture, and community in the heart of the Himalayas.
