In our top story. Actor Vicky Kaushal says people didn’t expect Zara Hatke Zara Bachke to do so well in theatres. At a special event to celebrate the film’s success, he shared, “We are here to celebrate the film and thank you. When its trailer was out, people said, ‘This is a prime example of a film that should’ve come on OTT’. Now that the film has worked in cinema halls, we are here to thank all of you. More than us winning, this is the victory of the audience.” Zara Hatke Zara Bachke, co-starring Sara Ali Khan and directed by Laxman Utekar, was released on June 2nd and has put up an impressive total of Rs 30.60 crore so far.

Moving on. Filmmaker Karan Johar says he refrained from directing the late actor Irrfan Khan, due to the fear of tarnishing his otherwise “beauteous career graph”. In an interview with journalist-author Shubhra Gupta for her book “Irrfan: A Life in Movies”, Johar was quoted as saying – “Irrfan was way stronger than anything I could have ever offered him. I never arrived at a screenplay, a film, a thought or an idea that would warrant the presence of the magnitude that Irrfan Khan brought to the table. That’s the reason I never had a film with him because I did not want to be that filmmaker who gave him a substandard mainstream film.”

Actor Nimrat Kaur spoke about ‘The Lunchbox’ and why the film is still relevant even after a decade. Kaur told PTI – “I feel people relate to the film because it stimulates the two basic urges of a human being, which are love and food. All of us have some stories, some connection to both these sentiments. It also addressed loneliness and unrequited wishes. It was also a love letter to Bombay. I’m very grateful for it. For me, it’s a milestone in life. It’s given me everything I am.” The film, directed by Ritesh Batra and also starring Irrfan Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, had its world premiere at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival.

Meanwhile, Shahid Kapoor made his debut in the movies with the 2003 film Ishq Vishk, but way before that, he appeared in films as a background dancer. One of those films was Taal, in which he’s seen dancing with Aishwarya Rai. In a chat with Radio Nasha, Shahid recalled – “No one knows this, but the day of the shoot, I met with an accident. I used to ride my motorcycle and I fell off it. So, I remember I reached the set very flustered because I had fallen off. I’ll always remember it as the worst and the best day of my life at that time. I was a nervous wreck back then, just hoping I didn’t mess things up.”

In a recent interview, he recalled how the media treated him at that time. Harman told Mid-Day – “I feel that the media was unfair to me. When I had done my first few films, a barrage of harsh and mean things was written. It hurts when it gets too personal.
