That’s when it rings true and you can write honestly when you kind of experience some bits of it. That’s why you keep going back to nostalgia.” Guns & Gulaabs will arrive on Netflix on August 18. One of the most significant movies in Sunny Deol’s career, Gadar: Ek Prem Katha continues to hold a special place, even decades after its release. As the actor prepares for the release of the film’s sequel, Gadar 2, he expressed his views on cross-border love stories, advocating for people to embrace and respect others’ choices. When asked if his films were motivating people to engage in relationships across borders, Deol told Aaj Tak – “I don’t believe so. Nowadays, technology facilitates people meeting through apps. Once they develop feelings for each other, they naturally want to meet and be together. Instead of criticising or concerning ourselves with such matters, we should respect their choices.”

Meanwhile, at the book launch of Irrfan Khan: A Life in Movies, written by Indian Express film critic Shubhra Gupta, the actor’s wife Sutapa Sikdar remembered a time during the making of Piku when Irrfan improvised a scene. Sutapa shared – “Irrfan would work along with the director and the writer. They would have many drafts by the end of it and when he would go on stage, he would kind of improvise. Bachchan Saab, on the other hand, is very structured and prepared when he comes. When Irrfan improvised, he got really upset. But then later, they became friends.” Irrfan breathed his last on April 29, 2020. The actor succumbed to a colon infection.

As one of the most legendary characters to grace Indian cinema, Jadoo from Rakesh Roshan‘s sci-fi film Koi… Mil Gaya still occupies a special place in the hearts of movie enthusiasts. In the iconic movie’s climax, we witnessed Jadoo departing from Earth aboard a spaceship that Rohit, played by Hrithik Roshan, assisted in summoning. As a result, Rohit reverts to his previous self, losing all the superpowers. Rakesh recently revealed how he chose this climax by following the advice of Aditya Chopra. He told Pinkvilla – “Yashji was in favour of the ending where Jadoo takes away his powers and leaves. Adi had the conviction that the powers have come to Rohit in the end. So I kept that ending.”

Lastly, Filmmaker Subhash Ghai’s most iconic film, Pardes, completes its 26th anniversary of release today. To mark the special day, choreographer-filmmaker Remo D’Souza reminisced about his experience as a side dancer in the famous track ‘Meri Mehbooba’ from the film. In a conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Remo recalled – “I have lots of memories from the film, I think I can write a book on that. Firstly, starring in this film was a huge deal for me. When the film was released, I took all my friends to the theatre. However, I was not seen in the first half. Thank goodness, the song came and I had a prominent presence in that song.”
