In our top story. Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani-starrer Satyaprem Ki Katha, has been holding steady at the box office, on the strength of positive word-of-mouth. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the total domestic collections now stands at Rs 50.61 crores. The film had a decent start at the box office, earning Rs 9.5 crore on its opening day. However, compared to Kartik-Kiara’s previous film Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, Satyaprem Ki Katha took a bit longer to join the Rs 50 crore club. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, released in 2022, was a blockbuster that brought audiences back to the theatres. In total, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 collected Rs 185 crore at the box office.

 

Moving on. Actor Janhvi Kapoor posted some behind-the-scenes pictures from her London schedule of the film Ulajh. The cast has recently wrapped up the schedule there. The cast also took to social media and posted several photographs from the set of the patriotic thriller. Janhvi uploaded black-and-white pictures and wrote – “20 days of Ulajh done. 20 more to go. Food for the soul.” The pictures show the actor with director Sudhanshu Saria, her team and some shots of her getting ready. Actor Gulshan Devaiah, who stars alongside Janhvi, also posted pictures on social media. The film also stars Roshan Mathew, Rajesh Tailang, Meiyang Chang, Sachin Khedekar, Rajendra Gupta, and Jitendra Joshi in pivotal roles.

 

The makers of the upcoming film ’12th Fail’ have announced the film’s official release date. Starring actor Vikrant Massey in the lead role, the film is all set to hit the theatres on October 27. Taking to Twitter, production house Zee Studios tweeted, “Inspired by a true story and the real stories of millions of Indians, 12th Fail’ is based on the best-selling book of the same name”. The film is helmed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. Talking about the film, Chopra earlier told ANI – “I have a feeling that this will be my best-performed film to date. Also, everyone on the crew was so young. I got to boss around kids half my age while making a film about students!”

 

Meanwhile, after making her Hindi film debut with a supporting role in Anurag Kashyap’s Gangs of Wasseypur, Huma Qureshi has played a plethora of roles since then. Her last few releases for context — she played a homemaker who transitions to a politician in Maharani, a plus-size woman in Double XL and a femme fatale in Vasan Bala’s Monica, O My Darling. Now, the actor will be seen playing the much-loved chef, cookbook author and host Tarla Dalal in ‘Tarla.’ In an interview with indianexpress.com, Huma shared – ” In Tarla, I had to play ages 20 to 50. It’s a challenge but there is a lot of joy to see myself being able to do that.”

 

Ranveer Singh, who celebrating his 38th birthday on Thursday, 6th July, is known for his energetic personality and always enthusiastic on camera, even when he gives interviews. The quiet side of Ranveer is seen rarely so when an interviewer asked Ranveer about it, the actor said that he just wants to give love. In an earlier chat with BBC Asian Network, the actor shared – “It’s particularly difficult when you get brickbats for just giving. People say ‘It’s too much, why don’t you curb your enthusiasm?’ It hurts.” When asked about his thoughts on conserving his energy, Ranveer said – “There is one part of me that wants to conserve. But I’m not the kind of person.”

 

Meanwhile, Salman Khan and Anushka Sharma-starrer Sultan was released on July 6th, seven years ago. The Ali Abbas Zafar-directed sports drama not only showed the journey of wrestlers but also the complexities between a couple, and how insecurity can wreak havoc in a relationship. While Salman was appreciated for his portrayal of the ups and downs of a sportsman, Anushka surprised the world with her power-packed performance. However, the actor confessed that she was initially scared about the film. She told Bollywood Hungama – “Honestly, I didn’t know what kind of a film it would be. And I thought, oh it’s a Salman Khan film, what would I have to do? I was scared.”

 

Filmmaker Ketan Mehta, back in 2016, had announced a film on Rani Lakshmibai starring Kangana Ranaut, but in the subsequent years, it was Kangana who made the film Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi, and Mehta was left in the lurch. When she developed Manikarnika with director Krish and producer Kamal Jain, Mehta sued the actor and the producer, accusing them of a breach of trust. Mehta told Bollywood Hungama, “The entire script was changed. My project was an international co-production. It was about British Generals’ obsession with capturing the Rani of Jhansi. It was more balanced. Manikarnika became jingoistic and nationalistic. A lot of work had gone into my film. What finally was made was pathetic, to say the least.”

 

Lastly, in some tragic news. Actor-director Divya Khosla Kumar’s mother Anita Khosla passed away on July 6th, Thursday. Divya took to social media to share the news and wrote an emotional message remembering her late mother. Divya shared several pictures of her mother, including a selfie of them together. Divya, who is married to T-Series head honcho Bhushan Kumar, wrote in the caption, “Lost my mumma, leaving a forever void in my heart. I carry with me your immense blessings & moral values my most beautiful soul. I love you.” Several friends from the film industry offered condolences in the comments section of the post.
