Let’s begin with our top story. As Pathaan emerged as a blockbuster, Shah Rukh Khan shared photos and videos of his fans as they watched the film, danced to its songs, cut cakes and celebrated it like a festival. The actor shared photos from Delhi, Kolkata, Nagpur, Bengaluru and many other cities as fans shared how they watched the film. Videos from theatres in Egypt and New Zealand were also shared on social media. Shah Rukh thanked his fans for their love, asking them to be safe at all times. Pathaan, after 12 days of release, has recorded $38.68 million in the overseas territories alone, while nett collection in India stands at 429.90 crores. The total worldwide gross is an incredible 832.20 crore.

 

Meanwhile, Raees director Rahul Dholakia is a big Shah Rukh Khan supporter. The filmmaker always has kind words to say about the superstar and was one of his most vocal supporters on social media when Khan was going through a troubled period after his son Aryan was named in a drug bust case in 2021. In a recent interview, Dholakia said – “Look at all he has gone through recently, it is not a joke when you see your son going to jail for no fault, the humiliation you have to face. But Shah Rukh didn’t say a word. He was so calm throughout all that. And then to do a film, like Pathaan. Hats off to them, and director Siddharth Anand.”

 

Filmmakers Hansal Mehta and Anubhav Sinha recently got together to chat about films. As they discussed how ‘content creators’ today have become ‘critics’, they also called out naysayers who question their cinematic liberty. They discussed how during Faraaz, Hansal was questioned about the film Hansal further shared how his well-wishers had called Faraaz a ‘slow’ film when they first watched it. He said – “They said it’s good but very slow. But I changed the graph for the film, used static cameras, and did not take too many shots. When the film was released, people were crying in the theatre.” Faraaz was released on February 3. The film received a lukewarm response from both critics and the audience.

 

Moving on. Ajay Devgn and Tabu-starrer romantic drama Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha!, directed by Neeraj Pandey, has commenced filming. Golden Globe-winning composer MM Keeravani will be creating an original soundtrack for the musical love story, which spans 20 years between 2002 and 2023. According to the makers, the film went on floors on Saturday, 4th February with the lead star cast along with Jimmy Shergill. The film will be shot extensively in Mumbai. It will be Neeraj Pandey’s sixth directorial venture. He is best known for helming titles such as A Wednesday, Special 26 and M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story. The movie will be backed by Pandey’s banner Friday Filmworks and presented by NH Studios.

 

Actor Anupam Kher is good friends with Kangana Ranaut, who is also directing him in their upcoming political drama Emergency. Recently, Kher got candid about his relationship with Kangana and defended her right to tweet about any topic of her interest. Anupam Kher said while art has its place in such discussions, Kangana too has a right to freedom of speech. Kher, who has interviewed Kangana for his talk show, and has been seen with her on multiple occasions, said the actor is ‘very brave’ and should be ‘applauded’, instead of being criticised. Besides Emergency, Anupam Kher will soon be seen in the family entertainer Shiv Shastri Balboa with Neena Gupta.

 

Meanwhile, Actor, dancer and singer Nora Fatehi has come a long way since she made her debut in showbiz with the 2014 Hindi film Roar. She has featured in dance tracks for popular films like Temper, Baahubali: The Beginning, Kick, and Stree among others. Besides this, she has also dabbled in television. However, Nora’s road to success was not a smooth one. In an earlier interview, she spoke about her struggles and her rough audition period in Mumbai. Stating that people were unforgiving and bullied her, the actor said, “Auditions were traumatic because I was just learning Hindi, and I would make a fool out of myself. I had a dream. I wanted to be a performer and entertain people.”

 

Actor Raveena Tandon recently spoke in an interview about issues ranging from body shaming to toxic gossip magazines. Asked about the gossip magazines of the bygone eras, Raveena said, “90s gossip magazines were the worst. And some of those women were the worst enemies of other women. They body-shamed them and would do everything possible to bring another woman down. Today they roam around as the biggest feminists among us.” Raveena said that because of all that, she was utterly displeased with the ‘viciousness’ of journalism in the 90s and decided to take a break after her marriage. She returned to the big screen last year with KGF Chapter 2.

 

Lastly, the late actor Sridevi‘s critically-acclaimed film English Vinglish is set to hit theatres in the Chinese mainland on February 24 to commemorate her fifth death anniversary. According to distributor Eros International, the 2012 movie will release on 6,000 screens across mainland China. Directed by Gauri Shinde, the Hindi family comedy-drama marked Sridevi’s return to the silver screen after a 15-year hiatus and went on to become India’s official entry to the Academy Awards in the Best Foreign Language Film category for 2012.
