In our top story. Vicky Kaushal and Sara Ali Khan-starrer Zara Hatke Zara Bachke is off to a good start at the box office. As per early estimates, the total domestic box office collection is now around Rs 22.59 crore. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the latest box office figures for the film on Twitter. He wrote – “#ZaraHatkeZaraBachke swims to the winning post, goes from strength to strength. Let’s get one thing straight… It ‘has’ found acceptance by the movie-going audience.” Directed by Laxman Utekar, the movie marked Vicky Kaushal and Sara Ali Khan’s first film together. It has been able to hold strong despite competition from The Kerala Story and Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse.

 

Meanwhile, Actor Sara Ali Khan expressed gratitude to the audience for appreciating her performance in her latest release Zara Hatke Zara Bachke. In a new interview, Sara told ANI – “I have missed seeing myself on the big screen, and I’m filled with excitement and gratitude for the warmth, love and acceptance that I’m seeing post the release of the film. It truly feels like a debut again – and I just hope I can keep growing and keep pushing the boundary to just do better and better work.” Set in the small town of Indore, the storyline follows two college lovers, Kapil and Saumya. Sara’s on-screen chemistry with Vicky has left the audiences in love with the fresh pairing.

 

Actor Shahid Kapoor revealed that he did not like himself in the 2018 period drama Padmaavat. In a recent conversation with Humans of Bombay, when Shahid was asked to name one character of his that he would like to revisit and play differently, the actor said that he would like to replay the role of Maharawal Ratan Singh. He said, “I did not like myself. I was so uptight. I think I did not bring out other elements of that personality and I got stuck in a headspace. Maybe other people liked me, but I did not.” Padmaavat, helmed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, was a tale of valour and sacrifice. It starred Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh, alongside Shahid.

 

Moving on. The makers of the highly anticipated Satyaprem Ki Katha released the musical romantic film’s trailer on Monday, 5th June. The movie, starring Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani in the lead roles, is set to hit screens on June 29. The trailer offers a peek into the world of Kartik’s Satyaprem, a man desperate for love and Kiara’s Katha, a girl already in a relationship. They meet, hit it off, jokes are shared and promises are made– before the two are shown to tie the knot. But not all is well, as Satyaprem soon realises the odds he faces. Satyaprem Ki Katha also stars Supriya Pathak Kapur, Gajraj Rao, Rajpal Yadav and Shikha Talsania, among others.

 

Model-turned-actor Urvashi Rautela is reportedly set to star in a biopic based on Parveen Babi’s life. On Sunday, 4th June, Rautela took to social media to share a video brief about the late actor. The video contains a note on Babi in Hindi that states how the actor’s professional life was as much in the news as her personal life. It added that the biopic would also delve into the same. The note carried the name of Wasim S Khan as the director while Dhiraj Mishra as the writer. Rautela captioned the post – “Bollywood failed Parveen Babi but I will make you proud! Trust the magic of new beginnings.”

 

Meanwhile, Nora Fatehi confessed that she gets ‘panic calls’ from producers who want her to appear in special songs for films that they know aren’t very good. In a new interview with BBC Asian Network, she said – “I don’t know if everybody needs me, but it gives me a certain sense of empowerment, and responsibility. And if I do say yes, I give them everything. I give them my time, I rehearse for hours and I make sure I take every detail, down to the costume and makeup, very seriously. And when I’m in front of the camera, I deliver. That being said, I don’t want to bore the audience. I can’t do too many songs also.”

 

Actor Manoj Bajpayee doesn’t like watching his films, because when he does, he fights with the directors. Bajpayee, in an interview with Bollywood Hungama, also revealed that he didn’t like his work in Gulmohar which was released on Disney Plus Hotstar earlier this year. He shared – “I just don’t like watching my films. I get into fights with my directors. I watched both, Gulmohar and Joram, and fought with the directors of both films. I told them, ‘I have done such bad work, how have you approved of it.” Helmed by Rahul V Chittella, Gulmohar also starred Sharmila Tagore, Simran, Amol Palekar, Suraj Sharma, Kaveri Seth, Utsavi Jha, and Talat Aziz.

 

Lastly, in some tragic news, Actor Gufi Paintal, best known for playing the role of Shakuni Mama in BR Chopra’s 1980 TV show Mahabharat, passed away in Mumbai on Monday, 5th June, due to age-related health issues. He was 79. The actor’s family said in a statement, “With profound grief, we announce the sad demise of our father Mr Gufi Paintal. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by family.” Paintal had been unwell for a long time and was admitted to the hospital on May 31 after his health condition worsened. Besides being an actor, Gufi also directed a few TV shows and a movie titled Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.
