In our top story. Gadar 2 scripted history by becoming the second Hindi film to enter the Rs 500 cr club after Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan. The Sunny Deol-Ameesha Patel fronted sequel of the 2001 mega-blockbuster Gadar: Ek Prem Katha netted a total of Rs 501 crore, as reported by industry tracker Sacnilk. Gadar 2 is the third-ever film to hit the hallowed club in a single language in India, after SS Rajamouli’s Bahubali 2: The Conclusion and Pathaan. The Anil Sharma directorial is also the fastest film among the three to enter the prestigious club. The film did the numbers despite the box office face-off with Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2, which also released on the same day.

Meanwhile, Ameesha Patel is currently basking in the success of her latest film Gadar 2, marking her return to the screen after a five-year hiatus. In a recent conversation with Bollywood Bubble, Ameesha opened up about facing criticism when her films didn’t perform as expected. The actor shared – “Those who don’t come from film families are targeted. Those who belong to the industry will always have an edge, that’s a fact. If I had a godfather then even if my films didn’t work it wouldn’t matter and I would have gotten the biggest films.” When asked if she had ever sensed insecurity from other Bollywood actors, the actor replied – “I don’t know, you will have to ask them.”

On what would have been Rishi Kapoor‘s 71st birth anniversary on 4th September, his wife, actor Neetu Kapoor and daughter Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, paid tribute to the legendary actor with heartfelt posts on Instagram. Neetu shared a video montage featuring memorable scenes from Rishi’s iconic films, including hit songs like “Hum Tum Ek Kamre Mein Band Ho,” “Chandni,” and more. The video also highlighted glimpses of Rishi’s remarkable performances in films such as Joker, D Day, and Kapoor & Sons. Neetu captioned the post – “In remembrance.” Several Bollywood stars, including Maniesh Paul, Sophie Choudry, and Ekta Kapoor, expressed their sentiments in the comments section. Riddhima also shared the same video on her Instagram.

Moving on. Actor Kay Kay Menon on Monday, 4th September said his character in the upcoming series Bambai Meri Jaan is unlike any role he has played. The actor told PTI in a new interview – “My character Ismail Kadri is multi-layered and complex. He is an honest cop and a doting father who isn’t perfect. When I’m told to play the role of a cop, it was played in a certain way in earlier times. I tend to play the person more than the role.” Bambai Meri Jaan is a show created by Shujaat Saudagar and Rensil D’Silva and also stars Avinash Tiwary and Kritika Kamra. The 10-episode series will stream on Amazon Prime Video from September 14.

Meanwhile, screenwriter Sumit Arora said penning Hindi dialogues for director Atlee’s Jawan was fun as he had to come up with lines that justified lead star Shah Rukh Khan’s “stardom and stature”. Arora told PTI – “It was the most enjoyable project. You have to keep in mind that the lines will be delivered by Mr Khan so the lines must justify his stardom, his personality and character.” Sumit also said he has been a fan of how Atlee makes “mass films”. Jawan is Atlee’s Hindi debut. He shared – “I met Atlee when he was thinking of making his first Hindi film. Nobody makes mass films like he does. I am happy to be part of this journey.”

Actor Sushmita Sen penned a beautiful birthday wish for her daughter Renee Sen as she turned 24 on 4th September, Monday. Sushmita wrote on her Instagram – “Happy Birthday My First Love!!! Lastly, filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, known for films like Black Friday, Gangs of Wasseypur, and Manmarziyaan, shared insights into the challenges he faces in the Hindi film industry. Talking to Film Companion, he said – “Everybody wants to work with me but everybody wants to do a Dev D, Gangs of Wasseypur or Manmarziyaan with me. What they think is the film that ‘they’ want me to do with them. Nobody wants to do something new. I don’t want to go back to what I have done before. I am on everybody’s bucket list but on that condition.” Anurag Kashyap’s latest film Kennedy, featuring Sunny Leone, closed the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne on August 20.
