In our top story. Ayushmann Khurrana’s Dream Girl 2 saw a big jump in collections over its second weekend at the box office. As per trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the Raaj Shaandilyaa-directed comedy-drama earned Rs 6.36 crore. This brings the total collection of the film to Rs 78.06 crore. The film saw a 27.41 per cent occupancy in the Hindi market. Despite competition from Sunny Deol’s massively successful Gadar 2 and even Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2, Ayushmann’s film has managed to establish its position. However, this Thursday, 7th September, Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan arrives in theatres, and Dream Girl 2 may see a dip in collections. Dream Girl 2 also stars Ananya Panday, Paresh Rawal and Manjot Singh, among others.
Moving on. Shah Rukh Khan revealed that his Dunki director, Rajkumar Hirani was the first person to message him after the trailer of his latest film Jawan dropped online. During an Ask SRK session on Twitter, when a fan asked the star what was Hirani’s reaction after watching the trailer, Khan said the filmmaker has also seen parts of the film. He shared – “Raju sir loved it!! First one to send me a message and I have shown him parts of the film too and he likes it. He has been very supportive.” Headlined by Shah Rukh, Jawan is billed as a mass actioner, directed by Atlee. The film’s trailer was released last week to a positive response.
Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel starrer, Gadar 2, emerged as a blockbuster by shattering several box-office records. To celebrate this milestone, the film’s team hosted a lavish party over the weekend, which saw the who’s who of Bollywood in attendance. The Deol family, including Sunny, Bobby Deol and Dharmendra made a stylish entrance at the event. The entire Gadar 2 team, including director Anil Sharma, also joined in for a group photo. Shah Rukh Khan, along with his wife, Gauri Khan, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, and Abhishek Bachchan were also spotted at the event. Salman and Kartik Aaryan posed together. Salman also hugged Sara Ali Khan as she arrived with her brother Ibrahim Ali Khan.
Meanwhile, Gadar 2 director Anil Sharma said that creating a mass entertainer is a daunting task. Anil told PTI in an interview – “It is difficult because you have to show this larger-than-life hero in a way that whatever he does seems real yet entertaining. While making a realistic movie you can talk to the person and others on whom the story is based, but to add heroism in a film is challenging.” Gadar 2 is inches away from the Rs 500 crore mark at the box office. The film is a sequel to the 2001 blockbuster Gadar: Ek Prem Katha. It features Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, reprising their roles from the original and Utkarsh Sharma as their son.

Actor-writer Twinkle Khanna spoke about growing up as the daughter of hugely popular movie stars, and how she resented it in her teenage years. In a chat with fashion designer-actor Masaba Gupta on the Tweak India YouTube channel, Twinkle shared – “I did feel by the time I was a teenager, I resented the fact that I was in their shadow. And it’s only now I realise that I was never in their shadow, I was under their shade. It took me so many years to realise this, especially after I had a child.” Twinkle is the daughter of the late superstar Rajesh Khanna and veteran actor Dimple Kapadia. They had separated and Twinkle was largely raised by her mother.
Lastly, in a recent interview, filmmaker Anurag Kashyap revealed that despite the end of his marriages with Kalki Koechlin and Aarti Bajaj, they remain friends. During a conversation with Zoom, Anurag shared – “We are mature enough to admit to our mistakes and address them. Aarti still edits my work. She can get angry at any point. But we are friends first. The same thing is true with Kalki. There is an age when we are immature, we are blind, but then a time comes when we become mature and understand things. Till we talk to each other with honesty, that bitterness doesn’t stay for long.”
