In our top story. Karan Johar’s upcoming directorial Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani is the next big film that will hit theatres. The film, with a stellar star cast of Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh, Jaya Bachchan, Dharmendra and Shabana Azmi is also said to have several song and dance sequences. The team recently dropped the first song from the film “Tum Kya Mile” which has been shot in Kashmir. Karan took to social media to share stories from the shoot. He wrote – “This is the first shoot Alia did after the birth of her angel and I remain in apology for freezing her in Manish Malhotra chiffons. Ranveer was nervous, but he was a real trooper.”

 

Moving on. Actor Sonam Kapoor says she was thrilled to be invited by the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Rishi Sunak for his reception to celebrate UK-India week 2023. The actor attended the reception on Wednesday, 28th June. Sonam took to Instagram and posted pictures of herself in a Rohit Bal saree. She wrote, “Representing India in a Rohit Bal for the reception at 10 Downing Street to celebrate UK-India week. What a beautiful day and so happy I got to wear a sari in the gorgeous London summer.” The reception, hosted by PM Sunak at his official residence and office in 10 Downing Street, was part of the India Global Forum’s flagship event.

 

Sonam Kapoor on Thursday, 29th June, took to her social media to drop the trailer of her upcoming film Blind. The actor plays a visually impaired woman in the movie directed by Shome Makhija and produced by National Award-winning filmmaker Sujoy Ghosh. The film will stream on JioCinema from July 7. In the trailer, Sonam is seen hunting a serial killer who abducts and kills women. Purab Kohli makes an impressive comeback as the serial killer. Sharing the trailer, Sonam Kapoor wrote, “It’s her against the evil that’s waiting for her in the darkness.” Blind also stars Vinay Pathak, Lillete Dubey, and Shubham Saraf in pivotal roles.

 

Meanwhile, Sunny Deol took his fans back down memory lane with the first track from the upcoming Gadar 2. Titled “Udd Jaa Kaale Kaava”, the song is a reimagining of the original number from the first film, which was released in the year 2000. Gadar: Ek Prem Katha went on to become a blockbuster when it debuted alongside Lagaan. The new song features Sunny and Ameesha Patel frolicking in a courtyard, as Sunny dusts off a stringed instrument, and gazes into Ameesha’s eyes. Gadar 2 will face stiff competition at the box office when it debuts on August 11 alongside Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Animal, and Akshay Kumar’s upcoming film Oh My God 2.

 

Filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra revealed how music maestro AR Rahman got the tune for one of the songs in Delhi 6. In an interview with O2 India, Mehra said, ” One early morning, I distinctly remember, it must have been around 4:35 in the morning, and I had fallen asleep on his sofa set in the studio in Chennai. Rahman woke me up and said he just had a dream and he found this tune. He had jammed on the piano for 37 minutes. He then said, ‘There is a tune somewhere here. Do you want to hear it?’ – and that song became Arziyan.” “Arziyan” was crooned by Javed Ali and Kailash Kher.

 

Meanwhile, for the longest time, flowers played a leading role in portraying lust, love and romance on screen. However, things gradually changed with time, with the advent of OTT allowing filmmakers to present relationships in a realistic manner. As Netflix’s Lust Stories 2 drops today with four short films attached together, filmmaker R Balki, talks about why he thinks sexual portrayals in films are confusing. In an interview with indianexpress.com , he shared – ” I don’t know what has changed. The way we show love has diminished for sure. At least we had romance earlier and something unrealistic to dream about. But now we are stuck in between. It’s confusing.”

 

Actor Sobhita Dhulipala says she always had a deep respect for performing arts, which is why she wants to debunk the notion that actors with modelling backgrounds are just “glam dolls”. The actor, who has featured in varied projects such as the “Made in Heaven” series and Mani Ratnam’s two-part magnum opus “Ponniyin Selvan”, told PTI in an interview – ” I was aware that people knew that I come from a modelling background. And there is a prejudice that they can’t perform. So, I was mindful that I should pick parts that allowed me the scope for performance. A lot of my initial decisions were driven by that. I want to do a good job, and be better every day.”

 

Lastly, Twinkle Khanna recently dropped a video where her mom, veteran actor Dimple Kapadia lip syncs to her nephew Karan Kapadia’s new song, Tere Bina. The video shows Dimple and Karan vibing to the new single. The veteran actor’s lip sync of the song is on point and she can be seen enjoying the track. Twinkle took a good-humoured dig at her mother. She wrote, “This is all things amazing! Karan just dropped a new song called Tere Bina which is out now on all platforms and I can say it is already my favourite song of the year. And I’m not quite sure what mom is doing in the background but then her actions confuse me on a daily basis!.”
