Let’s begin with our top story. Salman Khan Eid’s release for 2023, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, has performed well on the third day of its release. The Farhad Samji directorial minted an impressive Rs 26.61 crore, thanks to the festive weekend. With this, the Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan box office collection for the first weekend stands at Rs 68.17 crore. The movie has already crossed the coveted Rs 100 crore mark globally, with its current number standing at Rs 112.8 crore. Alongside Khan, the film also stars Pooja Hegde, Venkatesh Daggubati, Bhumika Chawla, Shehnaaz Gill, Raghav Juyal and Palak Tiwari among others in pivotal roles.

 

Moving on. The first poster of Anurag Kashyap’s upcoming directorial Kennedy is out, and it promises an intriguing, off-beat film. The movie, according to the official synopsis, is about an insomniac ex-cop who dwells in different circumstances looking for redemption. The ex-cop, who is presumed dead for a long time, operates secretly for the corrupt system. Produced by Zee Studios and Good Bad Films, Kennedy features Rahul Bhat as the ex-cop. The poster features his intimidating look, and it also has the film’s other lead star Sunny Leone standing and screaming in front of a door. Kennedy will premiere at Cannes 2023 under the Midnight Screenings section.

 

The trailer of Vidyut Jammwal’s debut production venture IB71 was launched on Monday, 24th April, and claims to chronicle the story of a mission that was “hidden for 50 years”. The patriotic spy thriller is billed as an “untold story based on true events”, where IB agent Dev, played by Vidyut, is on a top-secret mission to save the nation from an attack by Pakistan. The two-minute trailer showcases Vidyut hatching an impossible plan of blocking the air space, to avert the supposed attack from the neighbouring nation. IB 71 also stars Anupam Kher and Vishal Jethwa of Mardaani fame in prominent roles. The film, helmed by Sankalp Reddy, is slated for a theatrical release on May 12.

 

Meanwhile, Dream Girl 2, starring Ayushmann Khurrana, will now arrive in cinema halls on August 25. The film, backed by Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor’s Balaji Motion Pictures, was previously scheduled to be released on June 29. The film also stars Ananya Panday. Dream Girl 2 is the follow-up to the 2019 comedy-drama also starring Khurrana, who played Karam, a man whose female voice impersonation as Pooja draws the attention of others, but eventually lands him trouble. Ekta Kapoor, Joint Managing Director – of Balaji Telefilms Limited, said in a statement – “We want to ensure that our viewers get the best experience when they watch the movie, so we are working on the VFX.”

 

Adipurush, starring Prabhas, Kriti Sanon and Saif Ali Khan, courted controversy in October 2022 after the movie’s first teaser was heavily criticized on social media for the quality of visual effects, but filmmaker Om Raut said the team utilised the delay in time to make the movie better. Raut told PTI in an interview – “Getting those five-six months extra was very important for us. We gave that time to our visual effects studios to make their work better. Challenges are always there but that will only make our cinema better.” Adipurush is set to hit the theatres on June 16. Before its theatrical debut, the movie will have its world premiere at the 2023 Tribeca Film Festival in New York.

 

Meanwhile, Actor Radhika Apte says it’s difficult to find characters that inspire her and that’s one of the reasons why she chooses to do limited work. The 37-year-old actor, who divides her time between India and the UK, was most recently seen in the ZEE5 film Mrs Undercover, in which she plays Durga, a housewife who is a spy. Apte told PTI in a virtual interview – “It is difficult these days to find that good script as everyone is making everything so fast, there are lots of other parameters that have to fit in.” Known for films such as Badlapur and Andhadhun, Radhika also shared that her role in Mrs Undercover is a departure from the intense roles she is known for.

 

Actor Apurva Agnihotri famously shared screen space with superstar Shah Rukh Khan in filmmaker Subhash Ghai’s 1997 release Pardes, which also starred Mahima Chaudhry and Amrish Puri. While speaking with Siddharth Kannan recently, the actor revisited his experience of working in the film. Apurva said – “When Subhash ji called me, he told me Pardes was their film. He said that very clearly. But he also said, ‘I am introducing one more character in the film. If you do it well, you might end up becoming the surprise package of the movie.” Apurva also expressed his gratitude to SRK and shared that the latter behaved quite humbly on sets despite being the male lead of the film.

 

Lastly, Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty has opened up about how social media can destroy one’s life their lives and said that sometimes, he is “scared to talk” because of it. On The Ranveer Show, Suniel said, “In today’s time of social media there is no privacy, it destroys your life. One sentence is edited in 15 different ways and put out in 15 different ways. You know it’s made it impossible. I’m scared to talk, honestly. We’ve been forced to be diplomatic.” The actor also shared that when his daughter Athiya Shetty is abused online, it hurts him.
