Let’s begin with our top story. Bollywood star Ranveer Singh, who will soon be seen in the Rohit Shetty directorial Cirkus, has always been commended for his great energy on and off camera. So it seems unlikely that the actor ever loses control of his temper. Director Rohit Shetty recently said in an interview that while Ranveer is quite ‘chilled-out’ in real life, he likes to give every shot his full focus, and when that gets disrupted, that is when the actor loses his cool. Cirkus marks the third collaboration of the actor-director duo, having previously joined hands on Simmba and Sooryavanshi, where Singh had a cameo along with Ajay Devgn. Cirkus will release in theatres on December 23.
The repeat viewing of a film is the “biggest gift” an artist can receive, said actor Kiara Advani, and she believes the sole intent behind a movie is “entertainment”. The 31-year-old actor, who had three releases this year Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, Jugjugg Jeeyo and Govinda Naam Mera, said that she aims to do films that connect with people. Her latest Govinda Naam Mera is currently streaming on Disney+ Hotstar and the actor said she is nervous before the release of every film irrespective of the medium. Advani’s upcoming films include the Hindi film Satyaprem Ki Katha, which reunites her with her Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 co-star Kartik Aaryan, and an untitled Telugu movie with Ram Charan.
Moving on. Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who recently promoted Pathaan at FIFA, was quite impressed with comedian Sumedh Shinde who was hosting him on a particular segment. SRK said that he had watched the comedian’s videos and they were genuinely good. Sumedh is known for his viral clips where he does impressions of popular celebrities. Hearing the actor’s praises, Sumedh pretended to be Hrithik and said that – he loved the trailer, and that SRK was fantastic, and asked if the film was missing anything. SRK answered – “After watching War… the only thing missing was Hrithik.”
Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter Suhana Khan is gearing up for her debut in Zoya Akhtar’s film The Archies. Recently, Suhana shared a photo of her journal, which was gifted to her by SRK. The diary consisted of acting notes from the star. After this post, an old video where SRK talks about writing a diary for Suhana has gone viral online. In 2014, SRK was featured as a guest on Anupam Kher’s show, Kucch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai where he said that he planned to write a book on acting for Suhana.
“Actor Sarika, who was recently seen in Sooraj Barjatya’s Uunchai, was asked recently if Neena Gupta’s work plea opened doors for other senior actors. The veteran actor said that it was Neena’s ‘individual story’ and in no way it resulted in other actors getting opportunities.
Neena, in 2017, had requested acting opportunities on her Instagram account. In an interview with Siddharth Kanan, Sarika said, “”It is Neena’s individual story that she started getting so much work which is amazing and she went and put herself out there and said that she wants work. Then she got the work because she is a good actor, it’s brilliant.”” “
Meanwhile, Bhagyashree‘s daughter Avantika Dassani has said that she has learnt her lessons from her brother Abhimanyu Dassani’s hardships, who would attend auditions without letting anyone know of his family. Abhimanyu got his break in the critically acclaimed Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota, helmed by Vasan Bala, in 2018. In a recent interview, she revealed that – Her mother had prepared them well and she had seen her brother struggle and work hard. There are some advantages but one won’t get work because you are “someone’s daughter”. Only the ability to perform, fitting into a character and marketing value will get one work.”
Director Aneez Bazmee‘s 2007 blockbuster, Welcome completed 15 years of its release recently and is still remembered as one of the most iconic comedy films. Actor Anil Kapoor, who played the role of Sagar aka Majnu bhai, a gangster and wannabe painter, took to Instagram and expressed his gratitude to the audience. The ensemble cast of the film included Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Nana Patekar, Anil Kapoor, Mallika Sherawat and Firoz Khan. Many of the film’s dialogues continue to inspire online memes and videos.
Akshay Kumar-starrer Ram Setu will start streaming on Prime Video on December 23, the streamer announced on Wednesday, 21st December. Directed by Abhishek Sharma of Parmanu and Tere Bin Laden fame, the action-adventure movie was released in theatres countrywide in October this year. The movie also featured Jacqueline Fernandez and Nushrratt Bharuccha. Akshay Kumar said that Ram Setu was a film rooted in Indian history and he was glad that it will reach a bigger audience with its release on Prime Video.
Lastly, Filmmaker Neeraj Pandey says, in his career of nearly 15 years, he has always believed in one mantra: the audience knows better, so respect them. The filmmaker, hence, credits his success across films and streaming platforms to the hunger he has to chase new stories and chronicle newer worlds. This year, the filmmaker’s two streaming shows Secrets of the Koh-i-Noor for Discovery+ and Netflix’s recently acclaimed Khakee: The Bihar Chapter brought him laurels.
