Let’s begin with our top story. Actor Rani Mukerji’s latest film, Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway, had a decent weekend at the box office, as it earned Rs 5.15 crore. On its first Monday, 20th of March, the film’s collection fell by over 50 per cent. Though it outperformed Kapil Sharma’s Zwigato, which was released on the same day, the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar made a larger impression at the box office. Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway’s total collections currently stands at Rs 7.42 crore. The film tells the story of an Indian woman who fights with the government of Norway for the custody of her children.

Moving on. Actor Akshay Kumar, the star of the Hindi remake of the Tamil hit, Soorarai Pottru, took to his social media handles to share the release date of the movie. The film, which also stars Radhika Madan and Paresh Rawal, will release on September 1st, this year. The actor shared the first poster of the film in which only his silhouette could be seen as a plane whizzed by. He captioned the post, “We are ready for take-off.” As soon as Akshay shared the news, fans were giddy with excitement. A fan commented, “Waiting for Suriya sir’s cameo.”

Actor Sara Ali Khan says the failure of her last few releases made her reassess her choices as an artist and she is now focused on taking up scripts that will bring her “creative satisfaction”. The actor started her innings on a positive note with “Kedarnath” and “Simmba” but her last three movies — “Love Aaj Kal”, “Coolie No 1” and “Atrangi Re” — received a lukewarm response from the audiences. Sara told PTI in an interview – “It pains me. It is important to make films for the right decisions.” Sara is currently looking forward to the release of the Disney+ Hotstar film “Gaslight”, directed by Pavan Kripalani of “Phobia” fame. The film will stream from March 31.

Meanwhile, Shabana Azmi and Javed Akhtar have been married for almost four decades and they often speak about the friendship that has been the bedrock of their marriage. In a recent chat, Shabana shared the “magic trick” that Javed taught her for them to have a lasting relationship. Shabana shared that like all relationships, they do indulge in fights but they have a way of resolving them that has become the mantra of their marriage. Shabana told Pinkvilla, “There’s a magic trick that he has taught me. He said, ‘When we are angry with each other, either one of us should say drop it and the other should.’ Because what happens is when you are angry, you say things that you later regret.”

Actor Kangana Ranaut seems to be in a nostalgic mood lately. Recently, the actor shared a bunch of photos of herself as a child and a young adult who had dreams of making it big in the world of showbiz. She also shared snippets with these images, one with her school principal as well. Remembering her principal fondly and the contribution she had made to her spirit and artistic growth, Kangana wrote, “This was my first day in the Chandigarh day hostel and my principal Ms Sacheva ma’am noticed me because of my dress. She asked me where did I get this dress from? She smiled, hugged me and said that I will become a movie star one day.”

Filmmaker Anubhav Sinha says it’s best for him to focus on the story of his upcoming film Bheed, rather than the controversy surrounding it. Ever since the first teaser of the film dropped, the pandemic-set drama has been generating polarising reactions. Bheed chronicles the plight of migrants during the Covid-induced lockdown of 2020 when lakhs of migrant workers travelled to their hometowns from cities. The teaser drew parallels with the horrors of Partition. The visual unit lead to an immediate uproar, with a section on Twitter dubbing the film “anti-India”. Even the film’s trailer, which began with a voiceover of Prime Minister Narendra Modi announcing the lockdown was replaced with a new trailer, completely omitting the earlier audio video.
