IMDb has released a list of the top 10 most awaited films in the summer of 2023 and actor Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan has made it to the top of the list. The Atlee directorial, which releases in June, will be Shah Rukh’s second release this year after Pathaan. Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal and Prabhas’ Adipurush follow Jawaan in the list. A post on IMDb India’s Twitter handle read, “Among the Indian movies with planned releases in India between May 1 and August 31, these 10 were consistently the most popular with IMDb users, as determined by the actual page views of the more than 200 million monthly visitors to IMDb worldwide in 2023 so far.”

Designer Gauri Khan has launched her coffee table book My Life In Design, and her husband Shah Rukh Khan has written the foreword for the book. A Twitter user shared the foreword which has Shah Rukh discussing how Gauri started designing in the first place. In the foreword, SRK talked about the time when they bought their first house and were expecting their first-born Aryan. He shared, “Needless to say, it was beyond our means, but we needed living space because we were expecting Aryan. So, the choice was made, that we would try and buy stuff as and when we had the money. We could not afford a designer so the job was taken over by Gauri.”

Moving on. Actors Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s daughter Aaradhya Bachchan, 11, has filed a case against a YouTube channel for deliberately peddling fake news about her health. The case was heard in the Delhi High Court on Thursday, 20th April. Aaradhaya filed the case against the YouTube tabloid after it published a fake video news story about her health and life. She has sought an injunction against such reporting as she is a minor. The petition also asks 10 entities to “de-list and deactivate all videos” about her. Other parties to the case include Google and the grievance cell of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. The Bachchan family has not commented on the matter.

Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor, who was recently seen on the web show Farzi, has opened up about moving from romantic and cute roles to more complex characters, to avoid becoming a cliché. In an interview with Etimes, Shahid said, “The desire to do something complex and challenging was always there, but I was not offered those roles earlier. You can only choose from the choices that are in front of you.” The actor also revealed his dad Pankaj Kapur’s advice and said – “When I was still doing such roles and enjoying it, my father said – the day I begin to act, that day onwards, I will only look for more complex characters to play.”

Meanwhile, Actor Sonakshi Sinha and Vijay Varma starrer Amazon Original series Dahaad, has locked its release date. The crime drama also stars Gulshan Devaiah and Sohum Shah in lead roles and is directed by Reema Kagti and Ruchika Oberoi. Dahaad became the first Indian series to premiere at The Berlinale International Film Festival earlier this year. The show marks the digital debut of Sonakshi playing a fierce lady cop, who strives to solve a “gruesome murder case, with an unsuspecting criminal on the loose,” a note from the streamer read. Ritesh Sidhwani, Zoya Akhtar, Farhan Akhtar and Reema Kagti serve as executive producers on the series, which will premiere on May 12 on Prime Video.

Actor Priyanka Chopra is currently awaiting the release of her globe-trotting spy actioner Citadel. She said that headlining the Prime Video show has given her a “sense of validation” as she landed the opportunity after knocking on “many, many doors”. The series features Priyanka doing lavishly mounted action– a scale largely reserved for male stars. Priyanka says the simple reason why female stars were never given that mounting is because of “patriarchy”. She told The Indian Express – “It is a thick glass ceiling. But I think my generation of actresses, there are many of them, that have helped knock that ceiling down in Hindi cinema. Actors like Deepika, Katrina, and Kangana have done incredible action and looked amazing while doing it.”
