In our top story. Actor Akshay Kumar is gearing up for the release of his satirical comedy-drama Oh My God 2. Written and directed by Amit Rai, the film also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Yami Gautam, Govind Namdev and Arun Govil in pivotal roles. OMG 2 is set to hit the screens on August 11. Ahead of its release, the Central Board of Film Certification has issued an ‘A’ – Adults Only, certificate to the film, without suggesting any cuts, yet recommended more than 25 modifications. OMG 2 tells the story of a staunch devotee of Lord Shiva, residing in Ujjain. During a critical moment, god manifests before him and aids him in resolving the challenges he faces.
Moving on. The trailer for Dream Girl 2, starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Ananya Panday and Annu Kapoor in the lead roles, dropped on Tuesday, 1st August. This is a sequel to the 2019 film where Ayushmann’s character had the knack of talking in a woman’s voice on the phone and making money out of it. But, this film dials the comedy up a notch higher. Here, Karam, played by Ayushmann, dresses up as a woman and performs as a dancer. The charade isn’t limited to the stage because he pretends to be a woman when meeting potential employers as well. Dream Girl 2 also stars Paresh Rawal, Abhishek Banerjee, Manjot Singh and Vijay Raaz. Dream Girl 2 releases on August 25.
Actor Ayushmann Khurrana said he is happy with the way filmmaker Karan Johar’s latest film Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani has been performing at the box office as it shows that there is an audience ready to accept films which challenge stereotypes. At the trailer launch of Dream Girl 2, Ayushmann was asked about the success of the film. He shared – “I’m glad that Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani is doing well. They’ve set a good ground to address toxic masculinity and our film is going to take that to the next level. It’s great to see people accepting these kinds of films. It’s not just about the messaging in the film, it’s more fun.”
Meanwhile, actors Ranveer Singh and Tota Roy Chowdhury are receiving a ton of praise for their dance sequence in Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. In the film, Tota plays Chondon Chatterjee, a Kathak dancer, and Ranveer’s Rocky performs together on stage, much to the dismay of their families. In a recent chat with India Today, Tota shared – ” Karan sir was very clear about one thing. The character of Chondon cannot look like a caricature. It should be somebody confident in his skin, somebody who celebrates the idea of culture, his art and his dance form. He was very clear that it has to be depicted in a very proper manner.”
Actor Kartik Aaryan, who was recently seen in Kiara Advani-starrer Satyaprem Ki Katha, recently dropped his first look from his upcoming film Chandu Champion. Directed by Kabir Khan, the film is a sports biopic and is rumoured to be based on the life of Murlikant Petkar, India’s first Paralympic gold medalist. The first look has Kartik in a blazer sporting a short haircut with a few bruises on his face. Kartik shared the look on social media, with a caption that read, “When INDIA is written on your chest, it’s a DIFFERENT feeling. Proud to be playing a Real Hero, a man who refuses to give up”. This film marks the first collaboration between Kabir Khan and Kartik Aaryan.
Meanwhile, the Indian Couture Week 2023 in Delhi may be all about fashion, but Bollywood stars have been adding the much-needed glam quotient to the event. After actors Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh, Janhvi Kapoor and Sobhita Dhulipala took to the ramp, Sara Ali Khan and Aditya Roy Kapur turned showstoppers for fashion designers Shantanu and Nikhil. While Sara Ali Khan wore a peach and silver lehenga paired with a stylish-cut blouse and a long beaded cape, Aditya Roy Kapur was dressed in a beige sherwani and cream pants. The two walked in hand-in-hand and then stopped to pose for the cameras. The actors will be seen together in Metro 2, directed by Anurag Basu.
Veteran actor Zeenat Aman has been winning hearts with her unapologetic personality, which she fearlessly shares on her Instagram handle. The actor often shares her opinions, even if it involves criticising her films. Now, fans are in for a delightful treat as her impeccable style and quirky attitude have taken centre stage in the recently released Cred advertisement. In the ad, Zeenat, adorned in a white suit, is seen pondering as she says, “Being an actor is easy but being yourself is very difficult. For, being yourself requires you to answer existential questions about, ‘Who you are?’ ‘What is your purpose?’ The moment of introspection quickly turns into laughter as she realises she is shooting for an advertisement.
Lastly, Kalki Koechlin, who will soon be seen in Made in Heaven Season 2, recently opened up about the trolls that came after her when she announced her pregnancy. Kalki and her partner Guy Hershberg welcomed their daughter Sappho in 2020. In a chat with Mashable India, when asked about the trolling that happened at the time, Kalki said that she had already been married before to director Anurag Kashyap and her partner was not interested in marriage. She said,” He was like, ‘I’m not interested in marriage.’ So we just took a conscious decision not to marry at all, but we were living together.”
