Let’s begin with our top story. Bollywood actor Deepika Padukone unveiled the FIFA World Cup 2022 trophy at the Lusail Stadium in Qatar on Sunday, 18th December. Deepika and former Spanish footballer Iker Casillas escorted the custom-made Louis Vuitton trophy trunk and unveiled the winner’s trophy. Fans took their excitement to social media and hailed the actor. Many Bollywood celebrities including Kartik Aaryan, Farah Khan, Aditya Seal and others reached Qatar ahead of the final match between Argentina and France. Arjun Kapoor earlier took to his Instagram and posted a video of himself, holding the Argentina jersey.
Meanwhile, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan joined football legend Wayne Rooney at the Jio Cinema and Sports 18 studio for the FIFA World Cup Final. SRK said that he was very excited for Pathaan because he always wanted to be an action hero. When Rooney asked Shah Rukh, “Who was Pathaan?” the actor replied, “Pathaan is the guy you call last minute, when you are all tied up and can’t find solutions. You can’t get a goal and you know the guy who will get it for you when you are in trouble – ‘like Mr Wayne Rooney,’” Shah Rukh answered. Pathaan also stars John Abraham and Deepika Padukone and is set to release on January 25.
“Actor Kangana Ranaut has sought permission from the Lok Sabha Secretariat for shooting her upcoming film Emergency inside Parliament premises, sources said on Sunday, 18th December. Her letter is under consideration but she is unlikely to be granted permission.
Normally, private entities are not granted permission for shooting or doing videography inside the Parliament premises. If it is being done for any official or government work, then it is a different case. Shooting for Emergency commenced in June this year. The film is directed, produced and written by Kangana Ranaut, who also stars in the lead.”
Moving on, Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan opened up about his recent film Bhediya’s box-office performance and said that he expected the film to do better. On the flip side, the actor also said that apart from the box-office factor, he does movies because sometimes the characters are ‘unmissable’ for him as an actor. In a recent interview, the actor said that he hit a roadblock and felt burnt out when there was a lockdown in the country. Varun said that he waited for a long time before signing Jugjugg Jeeyo, Bhediya, and Nitesh Tiwari’s Bawaal and added that he was proud of these three films. Varun will next be seen in Bawaal opposite Janhvi Kapoor.
Ranveer Singh, Rohit Shetty, Jacqueline Fernandes, Pooja Hegde and Varun Sharma graced Salman Khan’s Bigg Boss 16 to promote their upcoming film, Cirkus. In the episode released on Sunday, 18th December, Ranveer was seen making an entry on Salman’s song “Yeh Raat Aur Yeh Doori” while holding a fire extinguisher in his hand! An amused Salman was seen smiling and cheering for Ranveer. Jacqueline, Pooja and other members also danced to the tune from Salman’s film Andaz Apna Apna. The original song featured Salman, Aamir Khan, Raveena Tandon and Karisma Kapoor. The film was released in 1994.
Meanwhile, after sharing a transformation video on social media, Nawazuddin Siddiqui took to social media on Saturday, 17th December, to share the first look at his character from the upcoming film “Haddi”. Fans were instantly taken by the actor’s look and appreciated him in the comments section. “How much of a versatile actor can one be?” wrote one fan. Another wrote, “He deserves an Oscar.” In a chat recently, the actor said that after his role in Haddi, his respect for female actors has grown manifold. Billed as a revenge drama thriller, Haddi features the actor in dual roles. Apart from Haddi, Nawazuddin also has Tiku Weds Sheru, Noorani Chehra, and Afwaah in the pipeline.
“Actor Taapsee Pannu has had a few run-ins with the paparazzi lately. While some of her disagreements have happened at public events, others have happened during her airport spottings. However, Taapsee is unapologetic about her reactions and says that she will not sugarcoat her reactions.
The actor, who was recently seen in Blurr, recently talked about the incidents that have happened in the recent past with the photographers. The motion poster of Aasmaan Bhardwaj’s directorial debut Kuttey was released on Friday, 16th December. The poster introduces the audience to the seven lead actors of the film, Arjun Kapoor, Tabu, Konkona SenSharma, Naseeruddin Shah, Kumud Mishra, Radhika Madan and Shardul Bhardwaj. From the poster, it is clear that Arjun and Tabu essay the role of cops in the movie. But for the other actors, nothing can be said about their characters. Kuttey will hit cinema halls on January 13, 2023.
Lastly, Actor Bhumi Pednekar says there is pressure before the release of every film regardless of the platform it arrives on. While the fate of a theatrical release hinges on its box office collection, a movie launching directly on a streamer has to compete for views with global content available at the viewer’s fingertips. The 33-year-old actor’s previous films Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare and Durgamati were direct-to-digital releases. Her latest release Govinda Naam Mera also released on a streamer, Disney Plus Hotstar.
