In our top story. Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt were recently in Vadodara, Gujarat to promote their upcoming film Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. While speaking to the media at the promotional event, Ranveer divulged details about his character, Rocky Randhawa calling him “not very bright.” Ranveer shared, “He is not the brightest egg in the basket.” Alia quickly interrupted Ranveer and playfully quipped – “Just like me,” making the audience laugh. Ranveer then continued, “But he wears his heart on his sleeves. That’s what I love about this character. He is very lovable.” Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani is directed by Karan Johar. It will hit theatres on July 28.
Meanwhile, since her debut in the 2012 film Student of the Year, Alia Bhatt has shown remarkable growth as an actor. Alia became a mother last year, which brought a significant change to her approach towards work and life. In a recent interview, she revealed that after becoming a mother, she now values a work-life balance more than ever. Talking to Femina, she said, “I think there was a time when I was willing to make sacrifices of all kinds – of sleep and time with my family – and just continuously work and shoot. Now I have a family. I have a daughter. I have a husband. I want to be able to spend more time with them.”
Shah Rukh Khan took to social media to unveil the poster of Nayanthara from his upcoming film Jawan, directed by Atlee. Though the poster reveals nothing new that we haven’t seen from the prevue of film, it has become viral among Nayanthara fans. Nayan’s look from the movie is also reminiscent of her role as Sasha from Ajith’s Billa, which was released in 2007. Sharing the poster, SRK wrote, “She is the thunder that comes before the storm!” Jawan is Nayanthara’s Bollywood debut, which also stars Vijay Sethupathi as the antagonist. Though the name and details of her role are not revealed, going by the promos, the actor seems to be playing a special agent in the film.
Moving on. Actors Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi’s upcoming film Merry Christmas has finally got a release date. Helmed by Sriram Raghavan, the movie will release in theatres on December 15, 2023. The makers have recently unveiled new posters featuring Katrina and Vijay, which exude a vintage vibe. In the posters, both Katrina and Vijay can be seen showcasing a slightly serious mood. The Hindi version of the film co-stars Sanjay Kapoor, Vinay Pathak, Pratima Kannan, and Tinnu Anand, while the Tamil version has Radhika Sarathkumar, Shanmugaraja, Kevin Jay Babu, and Rajesh Williams in the same roles. Ashwini Kalsekar and Radhika Apte will also have cameos in the film.
“Love, Sex Aur Dhokha 2”, directed by Dibakar Banerjee, commenced its shooting, on Monday, 17th July. The film, presented by Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms Limited and Cult Movies, is the sequel to the 2010 critical and commercial hit “Love Sex Aur Dhokha”. Banerjee, who helmed the first part, is returning to the director’s chair for the sequel. His last directorial was 2021’s “Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar”. Balaji Telefilms posted the update on its official Twitter page. The production house tweeted – “Love, Sex aur Dhokha 2 starts rolling now! Welcome to love in the times of the Internet!” The makers are yet to unveil the cast of the new instalment. “LSD 2″ will hit the screens on February 16, 2024.
Meanwhile, after breaking out from his ‘Prem’ avatar, Salman Khan tapped into action mode with films like Dabangg. And then in 2015, the star surprised the world with Bajrangi Bhaijaan, where he played an emotional man who goes all about helping a speech-impaired girl. Directed by Kabir Khan, the film also starred Kareena Kapoor, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and Harshaali Malhotra. On Monday, 17th July, Salman Khan Films celebrated the eighth anniversary of Bajrangi Bhaijaan. Posting a video summarising the film, they wrote in the caption, “Celebrating 8 years of a film that united everyone across borders!” Kabir Khan had spoken to The Indian Express then, about making strong political statements and aligning them with the country’s political situation.
Actor Arshad Warsi put an end to the rumours and confirmed that Welcome 3 is in the works and that he is part of the project. He also revealed that Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal, and Sanjay Dutt are also part of the film. Produced by Firoz Nadiadwala, the film is the third instalment of one of India’s most beloved comedy film franchises. The first part starred Katrina Kaif, Akshay, Nana Patekar and Anil Kapoor among others. Welcome Back starred John Abraham, Shruti Haasan and Dimple Kapadia. In an interview with Hindustan Times, Arshad said, “The scale of Welcome 3 – the cost, the climax, is unreal. It is an insanely larger-than-life theatrical film which I will be a part of.”
Lastly, Sunny Deol is set to reprise the much-loved character of Tara Singh in Gadar 2. The sequel to the 2001 blockbuster also stars Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma. During his recent visit to The Kapil Sharma Show, Sunny admitted being nervous about the film. As the comedian quizzed him on his emotions ahead of his film’s release, Sunny said in Punjabi, “There is excitement but also this nervousness. When the film had released then, everyone in the industry…” He then gestured a thumbs down. He continued – “But the way the audiences pulled it up, everyone just changed.” His comment left Kapil shocked, while the studio audience showed their support by applauding him.
