Let’s begin with our top story. Icon and cricketer Sachin Tendulkar’s son Arjun Tendulkar recently made his IPL debut as he took to the field to the pitch against Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan‘s Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday, 16th April. Sachin looked happy and proud as he cheered his son on from the stands. Meanwhile, KKR owner and star SRK took to Twitter to congratulate the father on this new phase of both Arjun and his life as he tweeted, “As competitive as this IPL may be, but when you see a friend’s son #ArjunTendulkar take the field, it is a matter of such happiness and joy. Wish Arjun all the best and Sachin, what a proud moment!”

 

Moving on. Actor Sharvari is in talks to join Yash Raj Films’ spy universe. According to an ANI source, it is said that Producer Aditya Chopra has roped in Sharvari into his fabled YRF Spy Universe that features some of the biggest superstars like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone, Jr NTR and Katrina Kaif. Sharvari made her Bollywood debut with Chopra’s produced film Bunty Aur Babli 2. She also has a few YRF projects in her kitty which are yet to be released. The source added – “Sharvari has been groomed for years within the well-oiled YRF system that has consistently produced superstars. Adi believes in Sharvari’s talent and feels she is an artiste to watch out for. “

 

Yo Yo Honey Singh had a successful, if controversial, reign at the top of the charts until his diagnosis with bipolar disorder and battle with depression. As he tries to return to the music scene, he spoke about the relationships he forged with top stars such as Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and Akshay Kumar. In a podcast with Raj Shamani, Honey Singh shared that he doesn’t have any friends, but he does have ‘mentors and godbrothers like them’. He shared – “They have given me a chance, they have stood by me when I was out of the scene and was unwell. They are such wise people and working with them is a blessing.”

 

Meanwhile, Actors Madhuri Dixit and Anil Kapoor got nostalgic on the stage of Hello! awards ceremony on Sunday, 16th April. Madhuri, who was awarded the ‘Timeless Icon’ title, set the stage on fire with her iconic dancing. Anil also joined her on stage and he recreated his famous dance step from the song “My Name is Lakhan”. Videos from the event are doing rounds on the internet and fans are loving the duo’s energy and chemistry. In her acceptance speech, Madhuri said, “Failure is always a teacher. If you don’t push the envelope and if you don’t think outside your comfort zone, it’ll be hard to grow as an artist.”

 

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has always been one of the shining stars of Indian cinema. But there was a time when even her fate worked against her as she was written off from multiple roles, despite hits and her position within Bollywood. In an earlier interview with Simi Garewal, Aishwarya admitted to being removed from at least five movies, in which she was said to be working with Shah Rukh Khan. She said “I was taken aback, confused and hurt.”

 

Actor Rani Mukerji said it’s a mystery how she managed to dance so effortlessly in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’s iconic chartbuster “Koi Mil Gaya”, as the outfit she wore was an extremely short skirt— a first for her at the time. At the Hello! awards on Sunday night, 16th April, she said, “I was only 17 years old and till such time, I hadn’t worn such a short skirt ever in my life. I was petrified!”

 

Meanwhile, Actor Pooja Hegde said to work with superstar Salman Khan, one has to be ready to be spontaneous. Pooja, a prominent name in the Tamil and Telugu film industry, hopes that her first collaboration with the superstar in the upcoming film Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan will take her to the “masses” The Farhad Samji directorial which releases on April 21, pairs her opposite Salman in a quintessential star vehicle. Pooja told The Indian Express – “The reach of a Salman Khan film is so huge, it will be watched by the masses. They are the ones who make an actor a star.”

 

Lastly, Veteran actors Tanuja and Asha Parekh recently opened up about how nobody is writing roles for them. The actors said they are being offered grandmother and mother-type roles while their contemporary Amitabh Bachchan still gets offered key roles and is the star of films. During a session of Maitri: Female First Collective, Asha, who is seemingly upset with the current situation in the Hindu film industry, said, “We also should be getting roles which are important to the film.” Tanuja, who was part of the discussion, said she always tried to live by her own rules. She shared – “There are rules that are created by the industry, but it is up to us to decide.”
