Let’s begin with our top story. Adah Sharma-starrer The Kerala Story is a box office hit. Despite the wave of protests, The Kerala Story is still riding strong. The Sudipto Sen directorial has already crossed the coveted Rs 100 crore mark. On the tenth at the box office, the film earned Rs 23 crore, taking its total to an impressive Rs 136 crore, reported industry tracker Sacnilk. If the film can maintain its momentum, it will soon take over Ranbir Kapoor-Shraddha Kapoor’s Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar as the second biggest hit of this year. Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar earned approximately Rs 177 crore in India.

 

Meanwhile, ‘The Kerala Story’ has been well received by the audience since its release, and lead actor, Adah Sharma, is being showered with lots of appreciation. In an exclusive interview with ANI, the actor was asked about the love from the audiences, to which she responded, “Every film I do, I think that it will be my last because I don’t know if I will get another chance or if someone would show faith in me again. But I believe the audience always had bigger dreams for me. They would say that ‘Adah should have been given this or that role’… and now, I think all those dreams have come true. I am so lucky.”

 

Actor Parineeti Chopra and AAP member and politician Raghav Chadha got engaged in New Delhi on May 13th, Saturday. The celebration was a grand one, which saw Parineeti’s cousin, global icon Priyanka Chopra, as well as Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal in attendance. Parineeti shared a thank you note for her fans and the media as she extended her gratitude to them on social media. She wrote – “Raghav and I are overwhelmed with the love and positivity we have received over the past few weeks, particularly on our engagement. We are so touched by everything we have read/seen and we cannot thank you enough. We embark on this journey knowing that you are standing with us.”

 

Moving on. Actors Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Hrithik Roshan have worked together in multiple films together. The two are said to be good friends and often support each other’s work. Recently, Hrithik took to his Instagram handle to share a note after he watched Priyanka’s latest outing, the Amazon Prime series Citadel. Heaping praise on the show, Roshan wrote, “Watching Priyanka in Citadel is such a fantastic surprise! Brilliant Work. Also, incredibly entertaining show. Excellent direction and screenplay! Very proud.” The makers have already rolled out a second season of the series, with its Indian and Italian counterparts already in production. The Indian version stars Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Varun Dhawan in the lead.

 

Gauri Khan’s debut book My Life in Design sheds light on her journey as an interior designer. It also features exclusive photos of Gauri, Shah Rukh Khan, Aryan Khan, Suhana Khan and Abram Khan in their residence Mannat. The coffee table book, published by Penguin Random House, was launched by the star couple in Taj Lands End, Mumbai on Monday, 15th May. Shah Rukh and Gauri looked elegant as always. SRK was all suited up for the occasion while Gauri was seen in a matching black dress. Shah Rukh, in the foreword of the book which also touches upon the design thought processes behind Mannat, has written, “I am excited to see what she has included in her book.”

 

Meanwhile, South superstar Jyotika has been roped in to play a pivotal role in filmmaker Vikas Bahl’s supernatural thriller movie, headlined by Ajay Devgn. According to a press note issued by the makers, the project will mark Jyotika’s return to Hindi films after 25 years. The yet-to-be-titled film, which also features R Madhavan in an important role, is being produced by Devgn, Kumar Mangat Pathak and Abhishek Pathak under the banner Ajay Devgn Films and Panorama Studios. The project is in the pre-production stage and will start filming next month. It will be shot in various locations across Mumbai, Mussoorie and London.

 

The makers on Monday, 15th May released the first full trailer of the upcoming Sara Ali Khan and Vicky Kaushal romantic-comedy, Zara Hatke Zara Bachke. The promo shows a glimpse of the family entertainer in which a happy marriage is followed by a decision to separate. The movie, despite its familiarity in terms of presentation and background score, promises an interesting take on relationships. The voiceover of the trailer has been done by Pankaj Tripathi, but it is not clear if Tripathi will make an appearance. The film has been helmed by Laxman Utekar, who had previously directed Kriti Sanon-led Mimi. The film is slated to release in theatres on June 2nd.

 

Lastly, Bollywood actor Randeep Hooda is all set to play the role of a cop in the upcoming film Inspector Avinash. Hooda, who plays the character of a fierce police officer named Avinash Misra, is shown taking on thugs all by himself. The official synopsis reads, “Inspector Avinash takes you to the heart of Uttar Pradesh in the 90s, a world plagued by rampant crime and corruption. As he fights for a crime-free state, with an unmatched network of informants called Mayajaal, the show vividly portrays the gruelling and intense scenes of how Mishra fought gangsters and the sacrifices and risks involved in fighting for justice.” The film will stream on JioCinema from May 18.
