Let’s begin with our top story. The Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor starrer Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar is running successfully in theatres. In a recent chat, director Luv Ranjan revealed that Ranbir has “still not taken his money” for the film. In the chat, Ranbir said that he “respects” Luv for putting everything on the line for the film. He shared, “I have heard that when my grandfather made films, houses would be mortgaged and my grandmother’s jewellery was mortgaged. That kind of putting your skin in the game, that level of madness to make movies, I always respect that.” Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar has made Rs 76.29 crore after six days in theatres.
Moving on. actor Priyanka Chopra is looking forward to the release of the Russo Brothers’ much-awaited series, Citadel. Recently, the actor spoke about moving to the West and also addressed Shah Rukh Khan’s comment on why he would never do a Hollywood film. During the Citadel promotion, the interviewer quoted SRK’s comment. On this, Priyanka responded, “Comfortable is boring to me. I am self-assured. I know what I am doing when I walk onto a set. I don’t need the validation of executives.”
Actor Taapsee Pannu recently revealed that the social etiquettes of those living in the world of Bollywood are vastly different from regular people. In a conversation with The Lallantop, Taapsee shared that actors attending each other’s birthday parties or Diwali parties don’t get any gifts for each other. She then spoke about a Diwali party at the Bachchan residence and shared that there too, people show up without any gifts. Taapsee even asked the host if he has ever seen anyone carry anything in paparazzi photos. Taapsee said that lately, she has been bringing gifts to parties but since no one gets anything, she feels very out of place carrying a “box” around.
Meanwhile, Actor Vicky Kaushal‘s next big project, Sam Bahadur, has wrapped up. Sharing a picture from the last day shoot, Vicky penned an emotional note about working in the film and playing the role of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw. Vicky wrote, “Gratitude gratitude and only gratitude, to be a part of this process, to depict the life of a true legend, to be a part of this team which truly gave it their all. So much I got to live, so much I got to learn, so much there is to bring to you all.” Sam Bahadur, directed by Meghna Gulzar will be released in theatres on December 1, 2023.
The trailer of Gaslight, headlined by actor Sara Ali Khan, was launched on Tuesday, 14th March. The Disney+ Hotstar film also stars Vikrant Massey, Chitrangda Singh, Akshay Oberoi and Rahul Dev, among others. The two-minute trailer features Sara as Misha, a young paraplegic woman, confined to a wheelchair, who returns to her family’s royal estate after 15 years at the behest of her estranged father, only to learn that he’s mysteriously missing. Misha is soon caught amid strange happenings and tries hard to dig the truth, buried deep within a mountain of secrets. Directed by Pavan Kirpalani, known for helming Radhika Apte-starrer Phobia, Gaslight is billed as a mind-bending, psychological thriller. The film is set to release on March 31.
Meanwhile, the trailer of actor Suniel Shetty-led series Hunter dropped on Tuesday, 14th March and it promises to be an action-packed ride. Starring Shetty as the tough cop ACP Vikram, the two-minute trailer of ‘Hunter – Tootega Nahi, Todega’ features action sequences, where the actor is seen punching, kicking, firing and slashing, set to the tune of retro classics like “Dum Maaro Dum” and “Chahe Koi Mujhe Junglee Kahe”. The Amazon miniTV series also features Esha Deol, Rahul Dev, Barkha Bisht and Karanvir Sharma in pivotal roles. In a recent interview, Suniel Shetty said filming for Hunter was a special experience. Hunter will premiere on March 22 on Amazon miniTV.
Sonu Sood’s philanthropic activities during the pandemic had people hailing him as the ‘messiah’ and aiding those in need during the lockdown crisis. At the time, many speculated that Sood might be preparing to come into politics and in a recent chat, Sood was asked about the same. Sonu shared that he has been offered many positions in the political sphere but he has stayed away from them. He said – “A lot of posts have been offered but these things don’t excite me. If we talk about politics, I have been offered a Rajya Sabha seat twice, but I did not accept it.”
Lastly, Veteran Bollywood icon Sharmila Tagore made her debut in Hindi cinema opposite Shammi Kapoor in the 1964 film, Kashmir Ki Kali. But it was not easy for Sharmila to work with the ever-energetic Shammi Kapoor. During her appearance on The Kapil Sharma Show, the veteran star recalled how Shammi did things that were never in the script, including during the final shot. Sharmila told the audience, “It was very difficult to work with Shammi ji and I was a newcomer. He would do something in the rehearsal and something else in the actual take. That was his energy.”
