In our top story. On Monday, 12th June, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan hosted an #AskSRK session on Twitter and graciously answered a range of questions posed by his adoring fans on the micro-blogging platform. While he replied to most questions with his usual wit, SRK also shared his experience working on Rajkumar Hirani’s upcoming film Dunki. When a fan asked what the most challenging thing about Dunki was, Khan replied, “To keep up with all the wonderful actors in the film and create the world Raju wanted.” Another fan tweeted – “How is your experience working with Rajkumar Hirani sir?” – to which SRK responded, “He is a gentleman, an amazing awesome director and very funny!!”

Moving on. Actors Richa Chadha, Pulkit Samrat, Varun Sharma, Manjot Singh and Pankaj Tripathi will reprise their roles for the third instalment of the Fukrey franchise, releasing on December 1st, 2023. The announcement was made by the film’s production house Excel Entertainment with a fun video, giving a recap of Fukrey and Fukrey Returns, on the 10th anniversary of the first film today. Fukrey 3 will be directed by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba. Fukrey 3, however, will not star Ali Fazal as Zafar. The actor had earlier announced that his dates were clashing with his hit web show Mirzapur. In a statement, Ali said, “Sorry guys, not this time.”

Aamir Khan is known as ‘Mr Perfectionist’ in the Indian film industry and recently, one of Aamir’s co-actors from Dangal, actor Shishir Sharma, shared that the star would rehearse each scene 120 times. Shishir told Rajshri Unplugged that when they started a scene, Aamir took him aside. Shishir recalled – “He said, ‘You know Shishir, this is Haryanvi. Haryanvi does not come to everyone like the back of your hand. You need to practice it.’ He used to rehearse each scene 120 times. I’m not joking. That is what Aamir Khan is all about. The professionalism he got onto the set, rubbed on to everyone around him including the people who were behind the camera.”

Meanwhile, Actor Arshad Warsi recalled working on the blockbuster film Munna Bhai MBBS and said that he was sure at the time that it would be the last film of his career. He revealed in an interview with Siddharth Kannan – “I thought my career would be over because of this film. It was the role of a goon. When you agree to a role, you only see what’s on paper. It’s only after the film comes out that you realise what it is, and what the impact has been because it went against the grain of what was working at that time.” Arshad played the role of Munna Bhai’s henchman ‘Circuit’ and emerged as the breakout star.

Veteran Lyricist-writer Javed Akhtar said he is convinced that he wrote one massively popular track in nine minutes, and revealed the interesting story behind this. At a recent FICCI event in Kolkata, Javed recalled, “After Silsila, Yash Chopra’s fourth assistant came to me and requested that I write the songs for his film. In those days, I used to drink while writing. I kept delaying it, and then one day, he asked again. I decided to get it over with. The reason why I know for sure that I wrote that song in nine minutes is because he had to catch the last train. Jagjit Singh sang the song, it was ‘Tum Ko Dekha To Yeh Khayal Aaya’.”

Meanwhile, veteran actor Dimple Kapadia, who has had three big releases this year including Pathaan, Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar and Saas Bahu Aur Flamingo, would not have been working today had her two daughters, Twinkle and Rinke Khanna, not pushed her to go out and work. Kapadia told Hindustan Times – “Once, I told Twinkle, ‘I don’t want to work anymore. It’s too much on my health.’ There were also questions that why should I look at myself like this on-screen now. Twinkle just looked at me and said, ‘You need money?’ I said, ‘Yes’. She said, ‘Then keep your vanity at home and go to work’. That was it, it was as blunt as that.”

Filmmaker Hansal Mehta revealed that the producers of his 2012 film Shahid initially hesitated to cast Rajkummar Rao, considering him a newcomer in the industry and were unwilling to invest their money in him. In an interview with Humans of Bombay, Mehta said, “Shahid, the script was sent to a lot of stars, and somehow either the star did not want to work with me, or if the star wanted to work with me, he wanted to change the way Shahid was written. And then, Mukesh Chabbra and Anurag Kashyap, just threw Rajkummar, my way. But, the producer said bluntly, ‘I’m not funding it.’ Raj was very new at that time.”

Lastly, Former VJ and actor Anusha Dandekar opened up about undergoing surgery for a lump in her ovary. She revealed how it was an ‘intense’ process and she is still recovering from it. Sharing a photo of herself on Instagram, Anusha wrote, “Just popping in to say hello! Quick story: went through surgery for a lump in my ovary, the recovery has been pretty intense but also I’m really lucky all was okay. They found a few more lumps while there, and again super lucky everything is great now.” Anusha also thanked people who stood by her during the difficult and constantly checked on her while she was in the hospital.
