Let’s begin with our top story. Indian Superstar Shah Rukh Khan, film director S.S. Rajamouli, author Salman Rushdie and television host and judge Padma Lakshmi are among the world’s 100 most influential people of 2023, according to Time magazine. The list also includes US President Joe Biden, billionaire CEO Elon Musk and singer Beyonce. Khan’s profile, written by fellow actor Deepika Padukone, read, “For someone who has known him and cares for him deeply, 150 words will never do justice to the phenomenon that is Shah Rukh Khan. He will be known forever as one of the greatest actors of all time. But what truly sets him apart is his mind, his chivalry, and his generosity. The list goes on.”

Moving on. Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap‘s Kennedy is headed to the 76th annual Cannes Film Festival, the organisers announced on Thursday, 13th April. Meanwhile, Actor Anil Kapoor shared a close bond with late actor-filmmaker Satish Kaushik, who passed away last month due to a cardiac arrest. Kapoor was not in the country at the time of Kaushik’s death and recently paid tribute to his late friend on the occasion of his 67th birth anniversary. Speaking at the ‘Satish Kaushik Night’, organised by Anupam Kher, Kapoor recalled how Kaushik was not well even during the shoot of their last film together, Thar, which was released in 2022. Kapoor would advise Kaushik to take a rest and come to shoot only when he feels well. But Kaushik was so ‘passionate’ about the work that he used to turn up to set despite being unwell.

Actor Ranbir Kapoor expressed regret at not having spent enough time with his father, the late actor Rishi Kapoor. In a new interview with the Free Press Journal, Ranbir was asked why he never could make ‘eye contact’ with his legendary father, he said, “He was very strict, but he was wonderful. I respected him. It was because of him I got exposure to the world. He was the one who sent me abroad for further education thus I have received huge learning both practical and education-wise. Thanks to Dad, I could learn worldly things to a certain extent at least subconsciously.” Rishi Kapoor died in 2020 after a two-year battle with cancer.

In a recent interview with Humans of Bombay, Kajol recalled that she was called “dark” and “fat” but she refused to let these comments get her down. The DDLJ star was asked how she dealt with these comments and she said, “I don’t think I really dealt with it. I just put it into a compartment and put it away. I thought that I was way more intelligent than all these people who were commenting on me.”

Radhika Apte, the actor who changed the tide for web content by being part of Sacred Games, Ghoul, Parched, Lust Stories, Andhadhun, among many others, is now playing a special agent in Mrs Undercover. Radhika was among the early adopters of OTT space and emerged as its face in India. In an interview with The Indian Express, Radhika spoke about her work in films and OTT, and how competitive the space has become in the last few years. She said, “There is so much competition. There are so many fantastic actors and there is a constant influx of new brilliant actors. One needs to stay relevant in this space and it is hard.”

Lastly, Actor Zayed Khan debuted in 2003, the same year when John Abraham, Shahid Kapoor and Riteish Deshmukh also were launched. In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Zayed was asked if there was a sense of competition between them and he said that they got along well together. He did, however, admit that others might have been engaging in a less dignified manner, but he refused to name them. He said, “I’ve never been the kind of person who has looked over his shoulder to see who’s left and who’s right. I’ve always been focused on my race, and I’ve never indulged in the politics of ‘woh kya kar raha hai’ and ‘why didn’t I get this.”
