Let’s begin with our top story. Megastar Amitabh Bachchan paid homage to Satish Kaushik and remembered the late actor-director as “a delightful company” and “a most accomplished artiste”. Kaushik died after a heart attack while he was on his way to a Gurugram hospital in the early hours of Thursday, 9th March. He was 66. Bachchan, who worked with Kaushik in the hit 1998 action-comedy film Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, said working with the actor was an “inspiring” experience. In the film, directed by David Dhawan, Satish Kaushik played Sharafat Ali, a small-time smuggler who gets thrashed by Inspector Arjun Singh, the look-alike of a petty thief Bade Miyan, both played by Amitabh Bachchan.

 

Ranbir Kapoor made a comeback to the rom-com genre with the film Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar. The Luv Ranjan directorial stars Shraddha Kapoor in the lead role, and their chemistry has left audiences impressed. The music of the film has also created a wave and with new songs dropping, it’s already breaking the internet. As per trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the film had a decent opening of Rs 15.73 crore upon its release on 8th March. The film has crossed the Rs. 50 crore mark domestically, earning about Rs.53.16 crore over the weekend. Bollywood has witnessed only one raging success so far with Pathaan in 2023 as other films like Kartik Aaryan’s Shehzada and Akshay Kumar’s Selfiee petered out.

 

It’s a wrap for the Karan Johar directorial Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. On Sunday, 12th March, the filmmaker shared a series of photos from the film’s sets and wrote a long note. Karan is returning back to direction after seven years with the film, which stars Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi in key roles. He captioned the photos – “It’s been 7 years since I directed a film. I embarked on a journey of a movie that I had to stop mid-way for various unavoidable reasons and then the germ of this film came to me from a real-life family anecdote – something my father once told me about.”

 

Meanwhile, Kareena Kapoor Khan said that getting married used to be the “biggest taboo” for female actors in the film industry, but admitted that this mentality has changed over the years. According to the actor, filmmakers are now prepared to take chances with them. In a recent interview, Kareena was asked if Bollywood is changing its approach to ageism. The actor replied, “I think so. You have to wear your age proudly. Today, women have become very brave. For female actors, the biggest taboo was to get married, but now your marital status doesn’t affect your career.” The actor will soon be seen in Hansal Mehta’s murder mystery show, and in Rhea Kapoor’s The Crew with Tabu and Kriti Sanon.

 

Bollywood actor Anushka Sharma opened up about how she tried to make time for her daughter Vamika while shooting for the upcoming film Chakda Xpress. In a recent interview, Anushka said, “The entire last year went into filming Chakda. I’d finish shooting and would have only that much time to spend time with my daughter, feed her dinner, follow her night-time routine, and go to bed early soon after her. I don’t think I found time to do anything else.” Chakda Express, based on the life of cricketer Jhulan Goswami, will release on Netflix.

 

Actor Vidya Balan reflected on being let down by somebody close to her, and said that the best thing she did in that situation was she ‘walked away’. Vidya refused to identify this person but made sure to establish that they weren’t a family member. In an interview with Humans of Bombay, Vidya was asked about a past comment that she had made to this effect, and how ‘painful’ it was for her to have someone close to her shame her for how she looked. But since then, Vidya has not only spoken openly about embracing herself but has also risen to great heights in her career. Vidya Balan will be seen next in the mystery film Neeyat, and Lovers.

 

Meanwhile, Actor Swara Bhasker and politician Fahad Ahmad’s wedding festivities have started in Delhi. After sharing some photos and videos from the sangeet preparation and the party, Swara posted pictures from her haldi ceremony. On Sunday morning, 12th March, Swara posted glimpses of the floral haldi decor and wrote, “And so it begins.” The actor later posted photos of herself and Fahad soaked in colours and she captioned her post, “Here’s to celebrating all the colours of life together.” Swara Bhasker shared several photos and videos on her social media. The wedding rituals are being held at Swara’s grandparents’ farmhouse in Delhi.

 

Lastly, Actor Madhuri Dixit Nene’s mother Snehlata Dixit passed away on March 12 at the age of 90. The cremation took place at 3 pm later in the day at Vaikunth Dham in Mumbai. According to a statement released by Madhuri and her husband, Dr Sriram Nene, Snehlata passed away peacefully this morning, surrounded by her loved ones. Snehlata also collaborated with Madhuri for the film Gulab Gang in 2013. In an earlier interview, filmmaker Anubhav Sinha said, “When we approached Madhuri to sing a song in the film, she happily agreed. When she came for the recording, along with her mom, we discovered her mom was a very good singer too. Eventually, we got both of them to sing.”
