Let’s begin with our top story. Jio Studios on Wednesday, 12th April, unveiled its upcoming slate in India that features over 100 movie and web series titles including the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Dunki.
Jio Studios, the media and content arm of Reliance Industries Limited, announced that they are collaborating with noted filmmakers including Raj Kumar Hirani, Sooraj Barjatya, Dinesh Vijan, Ali Abbas Zafar, Prakash Jha, Amar Kaushik, and Laxman Utekar among others for their upcoming titles. The stellar line-up includes Bloody Daddy featuring Shahid Kapoor, an untitled film with Shahid and Kriti Sanon, Bhediya 2 with Varun Dhawan, Stree 2 with Rajkummar Rao and the Amitabh Bachchan-starrer Section 84 among other films.

Moving on. Actor Shahid Kapoor, who is still celebrating the success of his Amazon Prime Video series debut Farzi, recently took to his social media handles and shared the first look at his upcoming film Bloody Daddy. Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, the movie is the official adaptation of the 2011 French film Nuit Blanche. The first look has Shahid looking quite beaten up with a scar on his nose. Fans were pleasantly surprised by the star’s look in Bloody Daddy and took to the comments section of Shahid’s post to praise the actor. One fan wrote – “So excited to see this after Farzi!”

Before making her international debut in Netflix’s thriller Heart of Stone, Bollywood actor Alia Bhatt is all set to make her Met Gala debut this year. She will be representing India on the red carpet of the prestigious fashion event. A few reports suggest that the actor will be wearing an outfit by the Nepalese-American fashion designer, Prabal Gurung. However, her team has refused to divulge any details regarding the same. Before Alia, a few Indian celebrities had walked the red carpet at the Met Gala. Priyanka Chopra has attended the prestigious event since 2017. Deepika Padukone also walked the red carpet of the Met Gala in 2017, 2018 and 2019.

Meanwhile, Salman Khan made his debut in the movies with a little-known film called Biwi Ho Toh Aisi in a supporting role. Later, the actor stepped into stardom with his first film as a leading man in Maine Pyar Kiya but in the actor’s words, he found his work in his debut feature to be ’embarrassing’. In an earlier interview with Prabhu Chawla for Seedhi Baat, Salman shared – “I signed the film after listening to the script and I really liked it but when I saw my work in it, I prayed. I think I must be the first person on the planet to pray that no one watches my first film because I was so bad in it.”

Tigmanshu Dhulia says the death of actor Irrfan Khan three years ago, has slowed his growth as a filmmaker. He firmly believes that no other actor can portray complicated characters and situations in the way his long-time friend and collaborator did. Dhulia directed Khan in his first directorial venture Haasil in 2003 and later in Paan Singh Tomar in 2012. They also collaborated for Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster Returns in 2013. Dhulia told PTI in a recent interview – “He was one such actor for whom it was fun writing a character. Even if I have to do something ambitious, I will not be able to do it ever because he is not with us here.”

Actor Shreyas Talpade, who is playing the former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in Kangana Ranaut directorial Emergency, opened up about the political feature and said that he had a great time working with filmmaker and lead actor Kangana.
In a recent media interaction, Shreyas said, “She has surprised me as a director. She has directed a big-scale film with clarity and a calm mind. It is quite difficult to do that, but she handled it with such ease. I think I am very fortunate to have gotten a chance to work with her in the capacity of a co-star as well as a director.” Apart from Kangana and Shreyas, Emergency also stars Milind Soman and Anupam Kher among others in pivotal roles.

Meanwhile, Pavan Kirplani’s latest suspense thriller Gaslight is the sixteenth film in actor Akshay Oberoi’s filmography, four being cameo appearances. With Gaslight, he has once again won the appreciation of film critics, but the film has failed to draw appreciation in equal measures. Oberoi, who essays the role of Rana in Gaslight, told The Indian Express he is “not one of those big box office actors who have a big fan following.” In his opinion, he is surviving in the film industry because the critics have liked his work but also understand that critical acclaim doesn’t get one better pay or roles. He is however confident about achieving success.

Lastly, Actor Sanjay Dutt took to social media to deny reports of him getting injured on the sets of his upcoming Kannada film KD. Several reports were doing the rounds on Dutt’s accident but as per the actor himself, “they are completely baseless”. The actor posted a note on his Instagram stories. It read, “There are reports of me getting injured. By God’s grace, I am fine & healthy. I am shooting for the film & the team’s been extra careful while filming my scenes. Thank you everyone for reaching out & your concern.” KD – The Devil also stars Shilpa Shetty Kundra in a pivotal role. It will be a multilingual release.
