In our top story. Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh has been cast in Don 3 and will be essaying the iconic role. After the teaser announcement was made, Ranveer shared a heartfelt note on 10th August, along with adorable childhood pictures of himself holding toy guns and wearing sunglasses. Ranveer mentioned he always dreamt of being Don. He wrote – “I’ve been dreaming about doing this for a very long time. As a child, I fell in love with the movies, and like the rest of us, watched and worshipped Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan. I hope the audience gives me a chance and showers me with love, the way they have for numerous characters over the many years.”
Meanwhile, veteran actor Zeenat Aman has extended support to actor Ranveer Singh as he takes on the role of Don in the third instalment of the popular franchise Don. Don 3 will see Ranveer stepping into the shoes of Shah Rukh Khan, who starred as Don in the remake of the cult 1978 movie Don, starring Amitabh Bachchan in the titular role. Zeenat Aman was the female lead, Roma. Zeenat commented on Ranveer’s post and wrote – “Congratulations, Ranveer! May you find a ‘junglee billi’ to your Don!” In one of the popular dialogues of the original film, Don calls Roma ‘junglee billi’. The female lead of Don 3 is yet to be announced.
Actor Ayushmann Khurrana returns as Pooja in Dream Girl 2. Much like the first film, the sequel also includes the popular song ‘Dil Ka Telephone.’ The new version of the song, titled ‘Dil Ka Telephone 2,’ was unveiled on Thursday, 10th August. In the video, Ayushmann Khurrana is seen dancing as Pooja while dressed in a black lehenga choli outfit. Ananya Panday who plays his love interest, joins him in the song. Ananya takes over the role previously played by Nushrratt Bharuccha. The song also introduces characters played by Vijay Raaz, Rajpal Yadav and Abhishek Banerjee. Meet Bros, Jonita Gandhi and Jubin Nautiyal lend their voices to the song. Dream Girl 2 releases in theatres on August 25th.
Moving on. The first look of the upcoming film Thank You for Coming was unveiled on 10th August. Starring Bhumi Pednekar, Shehnaaz Gill, Dolly Singh, Kusha Kapila and Shibani Bedi in the lead roles, the movie will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival 2023. The makers have also treated fans to several new posters showcasing the star-studded cast. Thank You for Coming is helmed by producer Rhea Kapoor’s husband Karan Boolani and written by Radhika Anand and Prashasti Singh. The film also stars Natasha Rastogi, Sushant Divgikar, Dolly Ahluwalia and Karan Kundrra. The movie is bankrolled by Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms Limited and Anil Kapoor Film Communication Network Pvt Ltd. The film will release in theatres on October 6.
Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor, who spent two decades in the Hindi film industry, ventured into the world of OTT with Raj and DK’s web series Farzi and later with the film Bloody Daddy in 2023. Both of Shahid’s OTT projects have garnered substantial praise from fans. In a recent chat with Hindustan Times, Shahid said – “As an actor, you should not presume that just because you are a star, people will like you across the board. It doesn’t work like that! The audience has become very mature and clear about who they like. I was keen to see how people respond to me in that space.” Shahid Kapoor’s upcoming projects include an untitled romantic comedy, alongside actor Kriti Sanon.
Meanwhile, actor Pankaj Tripathi says OMG 2 is an entertaining film with an important social message and revolves around issues faced by teenagers. The film was given an ‘A’ certificate by the Censor board after a few modifications. Tripathi told PTI – ” The film is entertaining and towards the end it gives you a social message, it is an important message. We know that society will not become progressive or change because of cinema. But at the same time, the film keeps values and belief systems intact in a logical way.” Tripathi plays a Shiva devotee, whereas Akshay Kumar features in the role of a messenger of God. Yami Gautam also stars in the movie, which was released today.
Actor Saiyami Kher says she was asked to go under the knife and make changes to her body, much before she entered the film industry. Saiyami, who made her Bollywood debut with the 2016 romantic drama Mirzya, told indianexpress.com – “I was just 18 or 19, this was when I had started modelling before I got into acting. It is very disheartening, but I have a solid support system. I have been very secure with the way I have been made. My parents have made me the person that I am. I don’t want a stranger to tell me that my face needs to change.” Saiyami will be seen next in R Balki’s Ghoomer with Abhishek Bachchan.
Lastly, Actor-VJ Rannvijay Singha is thrilled to see brother Harman Sangha on the big screen in Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. Rannvijay recently posted a video from the theatre where he went to watch the film with his brother. In the video, a glimpse of the flashback scenes is shown as Rannvijay writes – “Saw my little brother on the big screen. So proud of you Harman…and to be playing young Dharmendra! To see you on the big screen for the first time was just amazing. It’s one of the best Indian movies I have seen in some time.”
