In our top story. Filmmaker Karan Johar’s latest romantic comedy-drama Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani has shown massive growth, putting up its highest collections so far. As reported by industry tracker Sacnilk, the film’s total box office collection now stands at Rs 46 crores domestically. According to trade estimates, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani also recorded a healthy worldwide gross and is targeting a whopping Rs 85 crores in global collections. With this, the Alia Bhatt-Ranveer Singh starrer has recorded the fourth highest weekend collections of the year after Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan, Salman Khan’s Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan and Prabhas’s epic Adipurush.

 

Moving on. Following the massive success of Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani at the box office, Alia Bhatt shared an adorable picture on her Instagram with co-star Ranveer Singh and director Karan Johar on Monday, 31st July. The trio wore bright smiles as Alia expressed gratitude for the overwhelming love and support they have received after the film’s release. Sharing the picture, she wrote in the caption, “Love hain toh sab hain! From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for all the love. Eternally grateful! Love, Rocky, Rani and our maker of this Kahaani.” Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani also stars veteran actors Jaya Bachchan, Dharmendra and Shabana Azmi in pivotal roles.

 

As fans wait for the release of Atlee’s Jawan, starring superstar Shah Rukh Khan, the makers released a vibrant music video of the film’s first track, ‘Zinda Banda.’ The song has been released in Tamil and Telugu languages as well. The music video opens with SRK’s electrifying entry, greeted with cheers from a group of women. The actor showcases his dance moves, alongside co-stars Sanya Malhotra and Priyamani. The song also marks the reunion of SRK and Priyamani, who were last seen dancing together in the famous soundtrack ‘Get On The Dance Floor’ from the film Chennai Express. ‘Zinda Banda’ is composed by acclaimed composer-singer Anirudh Ravichander, who makes his Bollywood debut with Jawan.

 

Meanwhile, actor Fatima Sana Shaikh opened up about her favourite Bollywood actors. In a chat with Humans of Cinema, Fatima shared, “I am an SRK fan, but I feel Aamir Khan has given us a lot of films like Rang De Basanti and PK. All his films are so different.” Aamir Khan and Fatima Sana Shaikh have been linked for years since working together in their film Dangal. But they have continued to deny the rumours surrounding them. Fatima will next be seen in Meghana Gulzar’s Sam Bahadur. Vicky Kaushal will play Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw in the upcoming film. Talking about Vicky, she shared – ” Vicky is outstanding. I can’t tell you how good an actor he is.”

 

This month will be a complete treat for Bollywood fans, with several highly anticipated Hindi films gearing up for theatrical releases. These include Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2, Akshay Kumar’s Oh My God 2 and Ayushmann Khurrana’s Dream Girl 2. Adding to the excitement is Abhishek Bachchan and Saiyami Kher’s upcoming film Ghoomer, which has now confirmed its theatrical release on August 18. The makers of Ghoomer recently unveiled a small video introducing the lead characters portrayed by Abhishek Bachchan and Saiyami Kher. The clip showcases Saiyami as a paraplegic cricketer and Abhishek as her coach. Directed by filmmaker R Balki, Ghoomer also features veteran actors, Shabana Azmi and Angad Bedi in pivotal roles.

 

Meanwhile, Actor Saif Ali Khan and his actor-daughter Sara Ali Khan have finally come together on-screen, for an advertisement. The father-daughter duo star in a new commercial, where Sara is seen schooling her father about car insurance. In the ad, posted by Sara on Instagram, she is seen as a cop while Saif is a prisoner in an interrogation room. Sara wrote in the caption – ” ‘Cause, you’re never too young to teach your dad something new!” The commercial made her fans happy, as users commented how good they looked on screen together. Saif was last seen in Adipurush while Sara had a box office hit with the romantic comedy-drama Zara Hatke Zara Bachke, co-starring Vicky Kaushal.

 

Actor-dancer Nora Fatehi, who rose to fame with the song, Dilbar in 2018 opened up about being in the industry. As a newcomer in the industry then, Nora said that she ignored a lot of advice and also revealed how she refused to date specific actors for publicity. In an interview with Zoom Entertainment, Nora said, “I was constantly told, I should date specific people and date an actor for PR.’ I never listened to any of that, and I’m so glad because now I make the rules. I work on my terms, and my success is not because of another person. It’s on my own, and everyone else is just a plus. So I’m very proud of that.”

 

Lastly, actor Sushmita Sen suffered a massive heart attack earlier this year. She was shooting for Aarya 3 when she had to undergo an angioplasty and had a stent placed in her heart. Now, in an interview, Sushmita shared that she feels ‘lucky’ to be on the other side. Sushmita told News18 – “It doesn’t make me fearful now, instead I now have a feeling of promise, of something to look forward to. When you get a new lease on life, you respect it and are more careful.” Apart from Aarya 3, the actor next has Taali in the pipeline. The JioCinema original is based on the life of the transgender activist Shreegauri Sawant.
