Deepika Padukone has been very vocal about fighting depression. In 2015, she revealed in an interview she was diagnosed with clinical depression and she took help to come out of it. Deepika since then has never shied away from talking about dealing with depression. The Piku actress yet again shared her inspiring story at a recent event in Mumbai and recalled how despite being on a career-high, she felt suicidal at times. Padukone also revealed that it was her mother who understood the signs and symptoms and helped her to come out of that phase.

Speaking at the event, Deepika shared, “I was on a career-high, everything was going well, so there was no apparent reason why I was feeling what I was feeling, but I would break down, there were days where I just wanted to sleep, because sleep was an escape. I was suicidal at times and had to deal with all of that. My parents live in Bangalore and when they visited me, you often put on a brave front as you want to show them that you are doing well, until one day when my parents were leaving and going back to Bangalore and I suddenly had a breakdown, my mother asked me usual hygiene questions whether it is a boyfriend or something at work or something happened.” ALSO READ: Deepika Padukone To Join Brahmastra 2, Fans Speculate SRK Or Ranveer Will Play MahaDev In Ranbir Kapoor-Alia Bhatt Starrer-REPORTS!

She added, “I didn’t have any answer because it was none of these things, and it just came from an empty hallow place and she knew instantly and that was god sent for me. I give all the credit to my mother for understanding the signs and symptoms.”

The 36-year-old actress attended the event in a stylish black shimmery saree. She looked breathtakingly beautiful with her hair tied in a neat bun. Post the event, the actress stepped out for a dinner with her sister Anisha Padukone. The two posed together for the shutterbugs before going inside a lavish restaurant.

On the professional front, Deepika has many interesting projects in her kitty. Amongst them are Shah Rukh Khan’s comeback film Pathaan, Fighter with Hrithik Roshan, Project K with Prabhas, and the Hindi remake of The Intern with Amitabh Bachchan.
