On 04/10/2022, officers responded to the intersection of Huntingdon Pike and Bybury Road for a vehicle accident involving injuries. Upon arrival, officers observed one vehicle, a black Toyota Camry, stopped on the shoulder of Byberry Road with heavy front end damage. The driver and sole occupant of the Toyota reported injuries and complained of head pain after hitting something inside the vehicle as a result of the crash.
At that time, it was discovered that the other vehicle involved, identified as a red Chevrolet Monte Carlo, had left the scene of the crash. A witness said they were directly behind the Monte Carlo in traffic. They were stopped for a steady red light facing westbound Byberry Road. The witness then pulled off the side of the Monte Carlo to make a right turn to continue north on Huntingdon Pike. At the time, the traffic light opposite Byberry Road was still red and the driver of the Monte Carlo drove through the intersection, hitting the victim.
The Monte Carlo was last seen heading north on Huntingdon Pike, toward County Line Road. Nearby surveillance cameras captured the Monte Carlo (immediately after the crash), with heavy passenger side damage, traveling northbound on Huntingdon Pike and turning left onto westbound County Line Road. The Monte Carlo was spotted parked at the GIANT grocery store at 466 Second Street Pike. Officers then observed the vehicle parked, unoccupied, on the north side of the grocery store. It also displayed fake verification stickers.
Further investigation reveals that the Monte Carlo belonged to Kathleen Craven.
During an interview at a later date, Kathleen Craven admitted to driving the Monte Carlo on 4/10/22 and driving away after the crash.
Kathleen Craven was arrested and will be charged with the listed crimes.
CRIMINAL CHARGES AND ANY DISCUSSION THEREFORE ARE ONLY ALLEGATIONS AND ALL DEFENDANTS ARE PRESUMED INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY.
