Jalandhar: IK Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU) conducted a special induction program for the newly admitted students. More than 500 students worked together for 25 days in this induction program with the aim of promoting the university’s educational tradition among new students, better relationships between new and old students and encouraging student participation in daily activities. A grand ceremony was organized on the last day in which the University Secretary Dr. SK Mishra was the chief guest. Dean Academic Prof. (Dr.) Vikas Chawla, Dean, College Development Dr. Balkar Singh, Senior Professor and Chairperson, Student Induction Program (SIP) Prof. (Dr.) Yadwinder Singh Brar were special guests.

3-Day Interview Skills Workshop

Doaba College Personality Development Center organized a three-day workshop on “Interview Skills and Table Manners” for 140 BCom and BBA students. Principal Pardeep Bhandari said the center was set up to cater the much needed modules required by the students to crack the interviews of various competitions and placements of multinational companies. Prof. Sandeep Chahal, Center Coordinator, teaches in detail on interviewing skills, group discussions, situational dialogues and personal interviews, public speaking, basics of English, vocabulary building and situational dialogues. Dr Namrata Nystandra discussed pronunciation techniques, different accents and phonetics.

Celebrating Gandhi Jayanti

Gandhi Jayanti was celebrated with great fervor at Seth Hukam Chand SD Public School, Sangal Sohal – Variana, Kapurthala Road. A special assembly was held where the students were informed about the life story of Mahatma Gandhi. Students gave speeches and recited poems. A poster making and slogan writing competition was also held. Principal Priyanka Sharma told the students that they should follow Gandhi ji’s principles in their lives and encouraged them to become independent.

Shastri and Gandhi remembered

Gandhi Jayanti and Lal Bahadur Shastri Ji was celebrated at Kamla Nehru Primary School, Phagwara. A special assembly was held from Shivalik House. The students presented the views of Mahatma Gandhi. A mesmerizing dance performance was presented. A melodious song ‘De di humein Azadi’ was sung and a rendition of Gandhiji’s three monkeys was also played. School principal Jyoti Bhardwaj inspired the students to follow the path shown by these great leaders for a bright future.

Apeejay is celebrating Gandhi Jayanti

Apeejay Institute of Management and Engineering Technical Campus celebrated Gandhi Jayanti to mark the birth anniversary of Father of the Nation – Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, who is known for his contribution to India’s freedom struggle. Principal Dr. Rajesh Baga addressed the students and faculty and highlighted Gandhi’s role in liberating the country from the clutches of British rule. Dr. Baga also stated that Gandhi taught us the profound truth of non-violence. Dr. Baga added that “we should follow his principles of ahimsa for world peace and harmony.”

PCM SD freshman talent search

In an effort to hone the capacity of its students, the youth club of PCM SD College for Women organized a two-day talent scouting session. On the first day, literary subjects like debate, declamation and poetry recitation, fine arts like caricature, landscape, sculpture, rangoli and cosmetics competitions like mehndi, nail art, makeup and phulkari were held. Dance, theater, music and costume items were held on the second day. Students from various streams participated with energy. The successful ones were awarded by Principal Pooja Prashar.

CT public is holding a drawing competition

Class VIII student of CT Public School Kavya Ahuja secured first place in the drawing competition. This event was organized by Creative Expression by Kids and Teens in association with APJ Education, The District Cultural, Literary Society and Intex, an art exhibition of emerging artists, at Virsa Vihar. She was awarded with a certificate and a cash prize of Rs. 1500 from Apeejay College of Fine Arts. The other participants were Salvi of class 10, Shreya of class 10, Avni of class 7 and Haishita of class 7 who made the school proud as their work was appreciated. The students were guided by HOD Bhawna Arora and Art teacher Poonam.
