Meanwhile, Chiyaan Vikram starrer Cobra opened to a bang in Chennai, with occupancy up to 61% as of early morning. Coimbatore and Trichy were also very high, registering morning occupancy of 73% and 90% respectively, while Pondicherry, one of the territories where Vikram boasts a significant fan following outside Tamil Nadu, also had a high occupancy rate of 86%. Cobra, which also stars Srinidhi Shetty, boasted of Ranking opening ₹15 crore nett with maximum business no doubt coming from Tamil Nadu. It was a decent start, but the film needed to last well till Sunday to become a profitable venture in the long run, which didn’t happen.
Vikram’s Cobra is sinking at the box office
After a good opening of ₹17 crore gross across India, Chiyaan Vikram starrer Cobra is now in freefall at the box office, after dropping 70% on Day 2 and sinking further since then. If 4 days from its release, Cobra just made it 30 Indian Rupees crore gross pan-India – a hugely disappointing number – and now it looks like the writing is well and truly on the wall for the film.
