Chetan Sharma was reappointed on 7 January 2023 as the chairman of the senior team committee, exactly two months after his entire panel was dissolved by the BCCI over the Indian team’s semi-final exit in the T20 World Cup.
However, Chetan’s new team will have all new faces with junior chairman of selectors S Sharath from South Zone to be promoted. The others in the panel are former seamer Subroto Banerjee from East Zone, Salil Ankola from West Zone and Test opener Shiv Sunder Das from Central Zone.
Das has qualified from central for being a former Vidarbha player after finishing playing for Odisha.
His colleague, Harvinder Singh, also reapplied but was not considered after the interview as he was not considered up to par.
“The board received about 600 applications after its advertisement for the five posts published on its official website on November 18, 2022,” BCCI secretary Jay Shah said in a release.
“After due consideration and careful consideration, the CAC has shortlisted 11 individuals for personal interviews. Based on the interviews, the committee has recommended the following candidates for the national selection committee for senior men,” he added.
