A Eurovision themed theater performance created by care home residents will premiere at the Unity Theater before touring care homes in the Liverpool city area.
Nwoko Arts presents Songs for Europe, a one-of-a-kind experience as part of the EuroStreet programme. The new play has been created by and for care home residents, particularly those living with dementia, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, and their loved ones.
The show features a brand new a song, Hope Love Music, inspired by the memories of 150 older people and featuring their voices, during a two-week program of workshops in 15 care homes, led by Luke Thomas and Dora Colhoun of ADHD, the Musical. The song promises a highly infectious crooning chorus with plans to send it to the BBC to represent the UK in 2024.

This 60-minute experience features music, comedy and the sounds of Eurovision, eventually touring 20 care homes, starting at Stonedale Lodge in Norris Green on 1 May.
The piece was created through personal interviews with residents and their thoughts on the Eurovision themes and their memories of the fashion, hairstyles and music of the 1950s-80s.
Songs for Europe will premiere at the Unity Theater on 28 and 29 April at 2pm and 5pm for people living with dementia and other neurological conditions living in their own homes. Tickets are £10 and accompanying carers are free.
