Britney Spears has slammed ex-husband Kevin Federline for publicly discussing her relationship with sons Sean Preston, 16, and Jaden James, 15, in a new interview.
“Just one word: Hurtful,” the 40-year-old “Toxic” singer wrote via her Instagram Stories late Saturday.
“I am saddened to hear that my ex-husband has decided to discuss the relationship between me and my children. As we all know, raising teenagers is never easy for anyone… It bothers me that the reason is based on my Instagram,” Spears continued, referring to Federline’s claim that their children find her social media content “difficult ” to deal with .
“It was LONG before Instagram… I gave them everything,” she added. “I’ll say it… My mom told me ‘You have to GIVE them to their dad.'” I’m sharing this because I can. Have a nice day people!!!”
Spears then followed up her original message with a post shared on her feed that read, “In addition to what I said in my story… As their stepmom says “whatever happens outside of this home has nothing to do with his home’ … I would like to share the DOOR outside is a sign to the WHITE GATES that I was kept from for 15 years … the conservatorship ended in just 8 months !!!!”
She continued: “Being able to have money FROM THE OUTSIDE world for the first time is EXTREMELY REVELING… are we equal now??? Like equal equality???””
Spears also reminded her followers that “the trauma and hurt that comes with fame and this business doesn’t just affect me, it affects my kids,” noting that she’s “only human” and has done her best so far after conservatism.
“Honestly I would like to share my TWO CENTS!!!! I dare Federline to watch the BIG BOOTY VIDEO !!! Other artists have done much worse when their children were extremely young!!!!”
The “Circus” singer went on to say she was “controlled and monitored for nearly 15 years” under her custody, which ended in November 2021.
“I needed permission just to take Tylenol!!! I need to start doing WAAAY more than going topless on the beach like a baby!!!! I’m not surprised that just as my family has done their share of interviews, so will they. I am not at all surprised by their behavior and their approach to what I had to deal with!!!” she concluded.
Paris Hilton jumped into the comments section to show support for her longtime friend.
“I love you Angel. So sorry you have to go through this😔 Sending you so much love and support,” she wrote.
Spears’ new husband, Sam Asgari, also threw his support behind the singer when he took to his own Instagram story on Saturday.
“There is no validity to his statement about distancing the children and it is irresponsible to make that statement publicly,” the 28-year-old model began.
“Boys are very smart and will soon be 18 to make their own decisions and may eventually realize that the ‘hard’ part is having a father who hasn’t worked for much more than 15 years as a role model.”
He continued: “Kevin’s sauce will be over soon, which probably explains the timing of these offensive statements. I don’t know him personally and I have nothing against him except that he decided to defame my wife.
Asgari also noted that Federline’s support for Britney’s father, Jamie Spears, was a “revelation” of his character.
“What are now considered normal problems and behaviors that are easily managed with therapy or other means have been magnified to warrant a 13-year prison sentence.” Anyone who endorses it is wrong to take advantage of it in any way. I will not comment on this matter except to say that I have work to do,” he concluded.
Hours later, the actor shared another post that referenced the famous line Will Smith used after slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars earlier this year.
“I wish him the best and hope he has a more positive outlook in the future for the benefit of all involved,” Asgari wrote on his Instagram story
“But for now: keep my wife’s name… out of your mouth.”
The statements come after Federline told The Daily Mail that Preston and Jaden chose not to attend their mother’s wedding to Asghari earlier this year because she dominated the headlines and regularly posted nude photos.
“The boys decided they couldn’t see her right now. It had been several months since they had seen her. They made a decision not to go to her wedding,” claimed the former backup dancer, who was married to Spears from 2004 to 2006.
“This whole thing has been hard to watch, harder to experience, harder to watch my boys through than anything else. It was hard. It’s the most challenging thing I’ve ever had to do in my life.”
